Lol my clubs travel however many yards they travel. I think my 8 has a little more loft than it probably should, but I don't mind. As long as I can hit it 150, I'm fine with it. I can smack my 6 a long way, and that's good, as that's the longest iron in my bag

I thing in my next set of irons that I get (likely not til 2018) that I will ditch the 4 iron in favor of another hybrid.

I also see that Titleist has added a 17* 816 H1 which will be my next purchase.

I have been working on some swing changes with the club's assistant pro. This video is from today with a before video followed by the after.

1st vid - I am taking the club way inside and then "casting" at the top causing me to swing outside/in and creating a pull-cut. Look at my hands at the top of my swing and see how much of a loop I have in it.

2nd vid - I am taking the club straight back (feels like I am going outside the line) and at the top of the swing I am trying to get the feeling of swinging almost 33* left of target, causing an inside/out swing. Look at my hands at the top of the swing. There is still a little loop there but way less than before.

So far I have only worked on this with my driver. Not sure yet how it will equate to the rest of the clubs in my bag yet. Can't wait to try it out on the course to see the results (and if it will hold up on the course).

Also I am working on a grip change. My bottom hand was way under the club. I am working on moving it to a correct position. It actually felt very natural right from the start, so that's good.

Thanks #thinman. I edited using Camtasia and the watermark is a little better to see through. Updated my post with that.

scott, good stuff.

your swing looks good. i like the mechanics, flow etc. of it.

you don't set up in a very athletic position. seem sort of flat footed. too straight up too i think...... but obv you are working with pro, i'd listen to him and not random mid-handicappers on the internet - me

They are surprised by this? What did they think was going to happen that people were going to start flooding the course just because they played an Olympic event on it?

Is it bad when your assistant pro gives up on helping you after 3 lessons?

His exact quote was "some people were put on this earth to not hit a draw and you are one of those people."

He has helped me straighten out the driver a bit to where I can work with it. After my lesson today I hit a few 2 hybrids and my mini driver. His comment after watching me hit the hybrid mostly straight and 230 was that I should never shoot worse than 75 with that swing.

So, throw the driver away????

Not a bad idea to experiment with for ~5 rounds and see what happens. You already hit it long enough. Perhaps try out a higher lofted ~44" driver somewhere if you can, similar to your mini driver but possibly less loft. The extra loft & reduced length should tame your lateral misses at the cost of a bit of distance. Going to my 12* 45" driver has completely rejuvenated my game as a whole.

Problem to me is you are pulling your arms across your body way to much and right at the beginning of your backswing.

If you look at ~when you get the club up to waist high on the backswing, you can already see that your hands are no longer "in front" of your chest. You have pulled your arms across your body and then you spend the rest of the swing trying to get them back in front. You actually do get them back in front as you reroute the club in the transition but that is wasted energy, and you overdo it a bit.

Other big issue I see is you are certainly using your left/trail leg/lowerbody way to much. To start your downswing you should be pulling with your right side obliques/hip towards the target. You must do this first, then you can rotate as much as you'd like. You seem to be pushing with your left leg, and thrusting your hips towards the golf ball.

You can clearly see this if you put your finger on the screen like it is a wall that your butt is up against at address, and compare that to where your butt is at impact. You have lost a few inches of space, naturally making it difficult for you to deliver the club on an inside out path necessary for hitting a draw.

You should have no problem hitting a draw in about 5 mins. You need to take the club back more with your body as opposed to your arms doing all the work. This will keep the club from pulling to the inside too early, you will then no longer need to reroute the club in the transition. Then from the top, maintain your posture, feel like you pull from the right side to start and the club should be allowed to fall gently to the inside to a position where you can make a nice in to out path.

Speaking of technique : In my last few rounds, my bunker play has improved greatly. The advice of "taking less sand" has finally clicked for me, and my distance control has gotten really good no matter the length. If only I could make the 5-8 foot putts I'm leaving myself

Snapped my driver shaft at the range today. I thought the ferrule was getting loose. As it turns out the adapter was slipping off the end of the shaft. Once it reached the end a swing snapped off the tip of the shaft. Good thing it held together and didn't go flying. When I set it back down on the ground and was teeing up another ball the weight on the shaft snapped it.

Now I have to find a new shaft, and I have no money to get one. Guess I will be using the stiff flex one that came with it for a while.

On a better note I was at a PGA Tour Superstore yesterday swinging the 917 D3 and the 917 F2. I was still hitting a significant cut with the D3 but I was surprised how low the spin numbers were. On average I was a touch under 3k rpm which is low for me. My best swing was a nice 2200 rpm.

The F2 is such a smooth club. I was able to hit a baby cut with it that averaged around 260 with the longest being 265. Take that for what it's worth on their launch monitors.

So there's a place near my house called Golf Cave, it's an indoor simulator place. Anyone ever use a place like this in the cold weather months? Are they pretty accurate to distances etc. on a real course? Is it fun for non-golfers if I brought family members along?

it's fun and awesome and realistic...but can't imagine it would be fun for a non-golfer.

There's one by me. They have leagues and stuff. It is definitely fun for the offseason, but I agree it probably wouldn't be much fun for nongolfers. It is realistic and fairly accurate, but it is more like a video game and should be treated as such. I personally adjust my swing to get the best results on the game. The same adjustments on the course would have a bad result IME.

I have one of those places near me. It's also a cigar bar that has really high end cigars. I don't smoke anymore but the smell, golf, big screen TV's and fat leather chairs are awesome to hang out in. It's also a BYOB that is literally adjoining a package store. So if that's what you're talking about I highly recommend.
