Handling Getting Hit Into? Handling Getting Hit Into?

10-31-2008 , 01:03 AM
I'm not talking about hitting an abnormal shot that rolls up to some guys once a round. I'm talking about:

~Ball slamming on the green of a par 3 as you pick up your wedge just off the green (which of course is strategically placed in-line with your cart)

~Second time some d-bag flies it to where you are (285 yds off tee box obv)

~Every other situation where it is obviously not an accident.

This doesn't happen to me very often but when it does...F***ing prison style rage flows through my veins. My brother (playing partner) has kids, Dammit!

Anyway. Thoughts? Fun stories?

Hate people who do this, but I might hate slowplayers and people not letting others through more.

Uhh, any advice on which words to search. I tried "getting hit into" "golf course hit into" etc. to no avail. I am obviously not even an amateur at searching so.....help please? I am very bored and would like to add some nice passive aggressive techniques for handling these things.

I play very fast btw and I agree that someone not letting you play through may be worse but it does not have the potential to cause physical harm.

Leave the pin out on the next hole, then fistfight.

Jab the pin into the green 60 feet away from the hole and hope the douche bag "stiffs" it

tee their ball up and drive it back at them.

Are you playing ridiculously slow? Why are these peole hitting into you so often?

If they hit into me while I'm still on the green I'm definitely getting pissed. Ball is either going in my pocket, in the water or back at them.

If they drive into us once it's not a huge deal unless they can clearly see us and did it on purpose. 2nd time and I do the same as #1.

Either go into a rage and start a fight and get thrown in jail and screw up your future with a felony conviction, or just walk on and enjoy your life.

Anyhow I've only been hit into once and I used to play 3x a week. I tend to play pretty fast, and even with my stoner buddy we can play 18 in under 3 hours including going in for a snack at the turn. And that's with me shooting a 110.

It's the people I have to wait for in front of me that slow me down. I'm talking your standard 4.5 hour weekend round where you wait on pretty much every approach to a green and these guys still can't wait for you to get off the green. I have utilized the removal of the pin technique and just straight up pocketing the ball as well with 100% success. I do fear the aggressive behavior this may spawn, but damn...they started it.

You don't have to be slow to be hit into.

Hint: You could be waiting for the group in front of you, who is waiting for the group in front of them, etc. There will always be a chance the group behind you is ******ed.

Passive aggressive you say. Walk back and politely ask them to not hit into you again.

I've never understood all the golf course rage. You're playing golf! It's probably a nice day! Most of the time the person didn't mean to hit at you or lost the tracking on their ball flight.

A couple of my friends get so angry when we get hit into and have stomped on the person's ball. I mean, if they get into a fist fight with the group, then that means I'm expected to get involved. Eff that, I am not fighting on a golf course.

When said stomping occurred, I 've asked them, "why don't you just go back and tell them to yell fore next time?". Stomping on the ball is so p*ssy-sh*t. 95% of the time when you do that, the person is apologetic. The other 5%, who cares, continue playing golf instead of working. If it continues multiple times in the round, pocket their ball and go about your business.

I have 2 stories.

This happens quite a bit 'cause I usually play on cheap public courses on the weekend.

1- My dad and I were playing (I was probably between 9 and 12). He had me tee off and if I wasn't inside the 100 yard maker I moved my ball to the 100 yard marker and I played every hole from there (to keep up pace of play). We were waiting on every hole for the people in front of us. We had just gotten off the green into the cart (cart path 5 yards from green) my dad sitting with his arm behind my neck writing the score down. The ball hit him in the arm and bounced over my head (would have hit my head if his arm wasnt there). He grabbed the guys ball turned around parked in front of them about 50 yards teed up his 3 iron and hit a line drive shot right back at them and said "I swear to god if you come that close to hitting my son with a golf ball again this 3 iron will be hitting your ball again next time it wont be your damn golf ball."

2- (Best story Ive heard). Guy got hit into 3 consecutive times. Last time was on a 305 yard par 4 while they were on the green (dog leg right you couldnt see the green very well from the tee box). The guys ball was about 23' from the pin. He grabbed a piece of paper and wrote "sorry not a hole in 1, you were about 23' away. And dont ever hit into us again." Then placed the ball on top of the paper in the hole. He sees the guy going crazy when the he found the ball in the hole then the guy comes up and appologizes.
