Back than the equipment was not as advanced nor the ball. They never had coaches, sports Pyschologists, HGH, or cared as much about fitness. Purses were not as large travel was harder.
so exactly how is the equipment harder on the body?
or are you saying brandel meant their bodys were so out of shape that the equipment made them hurt? hmmm, if thats the case i suppose those old uppity country club white men wouldnt stand a chance even against guys like kuchar or stricker whom probably work out the least out of the top tour pros, but are still miles ahead of them in regards to being in shape.
i just dont buy that hogan, jones, sneed, etc. even jack to a certain degree were so great, that if they were somehow transported to the present day, they would be the same players. i tend to think their career stats would be significantly weaker if they did. they played in an era(less for jack but still very much) where golf was available to very few people. mostly rich white country club men. sure some of them came from poor backgrounds but the pool of players they played against hardly reflected society. think of baseball before african americans were allowed to play, or basketball, etc. can you really agree george mikan would be the same player if he had to face kareem, wilt, etc.
sure they were the best of their era, but there era was full of weak players that probably would have a hard time on the web tour nowadays.
