I know this is wayyy off-topic, but it seems that this thread could use a light-hearted distraction and I couldn't think of a more appropriate thread to post this in. The following is a dream I had last night. Presented without comment:

Spoiler:
I arrive at my apartment sometime during mid day with luggage in both hands. Presumably, I had just gotten off a flight. I'm walking down the hall to my place when I notice one of my neighbors has her door slightly cracked. She says hello and tells me to stop by after I unpack. So I throw my bags in my room and head back into the hallway.

I immediately notice why my neighbor (who I think was named Dora... or Nora or something. No, she has no resemblance to anyone in my life) told me to come by, which at the time felt neither usual nor surprising. There sat Tiger Woods, in full white Nike golf gear, relaxing on one of her sectional couches. Joining them were two nondescript white guys who had no lines in this play. Nora's living room, unlike most people's, was not set up towards a television, though she had two. Her four couches were set up facing each other in a square shape, probably in order to promote conversation.

Before being invited to sit down, I look to my left and notice two different golf tournaments on TV. One I immediately recognize as the U.S. Open, the other had the familiar-looking green-trimmed leaderboard; it was the Masters. "What, are you watching reruns or something?" I chuckle. I was politely reminded of the terrible natural disaster that hit in April, delaying the Masters until Father's Day weekend. "Oh yeah," I replied, though this felt like entirely new information. Apparently half of the top players chose to play in the Masters, while the others took a shot at the depleted field in the U.S. Open. I looked over and checked out the Masters, where Rory and Rickie Fowler were battling for the Thursday lead.

I finally sit down and the five of us shoot the **** for a little while until Tiger gets up to leave. I get up with him and tell him I have something to ask him before he goes. He nods and we walk outside. I then proceed to tell him all about my golf game, how much I want to get better, and gave him my rough outline for how I was going to practice. Then I asked him, "If you were me, how would you get better?"

He gave me one of those ear-to-ear Tiger grins and replied: "Man, you need to get laid."

Tiger seemed to be trying to be a little more personable, maybe realizing he might have to be on the talk circuit for a bit. Nike definitely spent some cash to get them there to shill the new clubs.

Really enjoyable clip. Holy hell Tiger's hairline is struggling.

+1 to both haha

despite it being an unapologetic 10 minute ad for Nike, it was still a lot of fun

lol for sure. He should just shave it off. His head is pretty round anyway, so it'll probably look fine.

Always so uncomfortable watching when Tiger tries so hard to be funny.

Decent watch though.

Tiger said he'll shave it eventually, he just hasn't given up the losing fight yet. Couldn't even hit some low stingers bro? Back must be wrecked.

Yahoo's headline about it was Rory talking about Tiger's dominant era in the past tense as if it were some sort of jab, silly.

Funniest part for me was when Rory was about to win and Fallon squeaks out while rushing to catch up "Tiger I need your help!"

Favorite part of clip is how Rory knocked one of his own pictures out.

Also - total badass to call the first shot and pull it off.

My friend is a former HS golf coach and used to setup drills like this for his players. Instead of glass, he'd use tissue paper. It was a great team-building exercise and also a good way to visualize how to manipulate your lofts on various shots.

I don't understand the story around "we moved some weight out on the toe and now the sweet spot is in the middle.....". Does mean all of the manufacturers who have produced blades up to now never thought to put the sweet spot in the middle?

The sweet spot has never been in the middle of blades and the pros know have always known this. Just look at a worn out club, the worn spot is always closer to the hosel where the sweet spot is. That was just the way the physics worked with a forged club until recently.

That is also a big reason why you see a tour pro cold shank one on occasion.

I remember reading a story of Tiger practicing and a Nike rep dropping a batch of unmarked balls. I think there were four Nike's and one Pro V. He hit a pitch shot with all five and was able to sense which wasn't the Nike. Pretty impressive that he's so in-tune with his feel.

I play 10 rounds a year and would be able to do that no problem. Ive played pro v1's for 8 years now and it's always easy to feel the differece when I hit a different ball, especially on pitch shots.

yeah he probably was like, "wow this ball actually reacts properly!"

Few years back was given a sleeve of top of the line Nike's and hit two shots with them before giving the sleeve away. Totally different feel and I hated it.

To each their own.

I always figured Tiger just had Nike buy some Pro Vs and repaint the ball with the Nike logo on it.

me too.

and lol at not being able to feel the difference.

maybe mine is a bit more extreme, but in the spring I'll buy a box or two of pro v1's and 3 or 4 boxes of noodles. they're cheaper than nikes (I use them for my **** around balls, drinking scrambles when I don't feel like looking for a ball if I spray it) obv but I like the feel better. nikes always felt hard, or less forgiving I guess.

Nike wouldn't paint Pro V's they'd just reverse engineer them for Tiger.

Fwiw Tiger's Nike balls are hard as fack (at least the ones I tried some years back when they were supposedly selling his exact ball) and would be easily distinguishable from a pro v1 or even a pro v1 x.
