I live in SE Michigan, but for the next three days I am helping my girlfriend settle into town here in Findlay while she has a 3 month internship. I will be spending a few weekdays here over the next few months and would like to get a few rounds in before the season is up.

Google has lead me to a few courses nearby, but nothing spectacular. I'll probably play Red Hawk Run tomorrow afternoon as they have a pretty nice twilight rate. Nothing within an hour on golfnow.com, so I've already tried that. I will be willing to drive up to about an hour if its worth it.

Thanks for any help.

I've played Red Hawk Run. Definitely a decent course. I'm sure the cold weather and soaked conditions I endured in the spring hurt it a bit. You can definitely make it a long course by playing back as far as you want. The tips are pretty long from what I remember.

Yeah over 7100 from the blacks looks interesting. Im about a 4.5 so we'll see. It's an Arthur Hills design, and with the saturation of ****ty Hills courses in SE MI I have a feeling i'll be underwhelmed. Thank you though.

I live in the Toledo area. Public golf in northwest Ohio is cheap, but there are few memorable courses.

Little gem in the country: Riverby Hills

Worth the drive out of the way: Maumee Bay State Park

Played red hawk today and was pretty underwhelmed. It was a good value ($29), staff was friendly and pace was nice. It looked like they try to keep the course in good condition, but with how dry its been lately most of the rough and the high points of the fairway were dust. I can give them a pass on that as water is ****ing expensive. I'm just really sick of Arthur Hills. His designs are bland, unimaginative and this course reminded me of every other one of his 10+ I've played in Michigan. There really wasn't anyone out there but it really tilts me when he puts a long par 3 after a par 5 which is a common theme on a lot of the Hills designs.

Those look right up my alley; I'll check them out. Thanks a lot.

It's amazing what the heat has done to the golf courses.

I played Riverby Hills today. The dry streak of weather has taken a toll on the course. Plenty of rough patches in the fairways. Greens still in great shape. Rough burnt up. Shot 78.
