Yeah, it was mild on the forecast until this morning, now showing 15-20, which still isn't too bad (and what I deal with up here on the north coast).

I'm getting a caddie for all three rounds, one because of the insight, two because there something just really awesome about walking but not carrying/pushing clubs, and three because I have various injuries that are easily aggravated, and don't want to be limping around when i play Sheep Ranch Thursday afternoon.

So cost is $100 a round...what's a decent tip, factoring in it sounds like I'll have the same caddie for all three rounds?

$20-$25 on top is reasonable +/- quality of job

Per round, correct?

Best shot in my bag right now is the bump and run....looking forward to putting to use. Often.

I would tip $40/rd, maybe up to $60 if he is really good.

I can't wait to watch it on TV tomorrow. Too bad they are not using Trails for the match play, would have loved to see that course on TV.

I need to get all of the people I was recruiting to go out the and the end of 2021 to watch. That should convince them to go.

Yeah - per round IMO. Scott is generous - take my brother (Colorado Drew) next time you're out there

US Am always makes for an epic playoff to get to 64. Lots of players still out on the course but right now it's 19 for 3 spots.

afternoon scores are on average are 3.5 strokes higher than the morning rounds in the Am. Sunny summer afternoons brings the wind from the north, and the courses were designed for it.

You hear about it all the time at Bandon but these guys need to start using putter from off the green! Lots of very poor chips/pitches from the best amateur players in the world.

Only the tightest lies in the country. Just stand next to the green and hear the hollow thud a full approach shot makes when it hits the ground and you’ll get it fast

Pacific Dunes kicked my ASS this afternoon: 45-46. I actually hit some really, really good golf shots, but that wind....my swing shape is a fade, and miss it just a little much and that NE wind just takes it. I'm also really, REALLY bad at bunker shots, and I managed to find a couple. Finally, I putted like ****, and while I'm taking responsibility for some bad strokes, it took me too long to realize my caddy couldn't read greens for ****. Really nice kid, but all the best caddies are over at the Am.

Left my phone in my car, so no pics, but I'll take some tomorrow: Trails in the morning, Sheep in the afternoon (wish we had switched that).

On a high note, playing punch bowl after a round is just an amazing cherry on top of the day.

Doesn’t matter, still played Pacific.
Do they have the drink service running at punch bowl or is that shut down?

Yeah, they have it. Here's a Punchbowl pic sans drink trailer.

Awesome as always.

I thought BD looked great on TV. Of course they focused on 16-18 with some shots from 12-15 thrown in.

Thought the Wednesday R64 pin on 17 was awesome. Tucked left with that wind coming from that direction. Kids still hit some filthy shots.

18 seemed to be setup well with a big drive guys were hitting 3 woods and hybrids onto the green. I don't recall anyone getting home with an iron, but I was specifically looking for it.

Watching the full afternoon 18 on Sunday will be nice. Want to see how they play #4. That hole always kicks my ass.

I love Trails, favorite course there.

42-42 at Trails, with three doubles. Pacific is great, but I see the ocean all the time, and I just flat like Trails better. Would have loved to see the Am players play it. (The hole in the bunker on that last pic wasn't me, thankfully).

Also the wind was HOWLING on the back, even at Trails. Sheep is going to be something.

January 2019 on Old Mac then the Punch Bowl late afternoon. sustained 30 mph and gust to who knows how hard. the gifs are choppy but i think you get the idea.

there's nothing on this beer stand to catch the wind other than the cup and look what happens.

Pacific #4 plays directly into the winter wind and is ~450 from the green. one year when it was really howling i nutted a low running drive and then hit back to back pure stinger 3 woods to leave myself 10 yards short of the green. rolled in the putt to an up pin to make probably the best par of my life.

I have only played with the winter wind. Pacific #4, Old Mac #4 and #18. Sooo many hard holes into the wind.

Fuller report (and tons of pics) later, but that trip was truly amazing. Get thee to Bandon if you have not been. I can pretty safely rank the Bandon courses I've played:
1) Sheep Ranch
2) Trails
3) Pacific

But even though it's clear, it's close. All time courses I've played, those are 2-4 after Pebble. And it's close.

Back of 16 green at Sheep:
