If it happens on the 18th, I would imagine the players are agreeing to halve the hole rather than player B conceding it. It makes no difference results wise and it's a bit nicer (if pointless) to player B.
although delaet has beat the entire rest of the field by 5 strokes in one round (widest gap i've ever seen) so i presume he can putt - just maybe not sundays in contention
Uneducated fool beats grammar nit fool any day imo.
Also - "could care less" became legit as a substitute for "couldn't care less" when it was used in The Breakfast Club back in 1985. Nobody but extreme nits cares that it's technically wrong any more. If it was good enough for John Bender, then it's bloody well good enough for anyone.
Trying to help you out with the grammar. Go on looking like an uneducated fool if you wish.
This is so silly normally I wouldn't even comment. That said this is a message board. My grammar sucks and I am good with it. If I was writing anything that mattered I proof read or have someone do it before it was done. I think I got like a 740 on the math section and 450 on the verbal section of the SAT(old version)
The course really is a fun match play course. Pretty big fan of how Dye was able to use the elevation change that the site had. Cool course with awesome risk reward shots.
Thanks, I would pay a pretty decent amount of money to get to walk with the group inside the ropes tomorrow. Those 2 play a different game of golf than I do, and I am not even that bad.
The ending match scores have been driving me and my friends crazy this week. Here is an example. Player A is 1 up going to the 18th hole. Player A hits his approach shot to 4 feet and marks his ball.
Player B hits his approach shot to 30 feet. Player B's first putt goes by the hole 6 feet. Player B is now lying 3 and Player A is now lying 2. Player B goes over to Player A and shakes his hand and the match ends.
The final score of the match is officially listed as Player A wins 1 up. Why isn't this Player A wins 2 up? This scenario has happened numerous times this week so I am fairly confident that NBC or whoever is recording the final scores is not screwing up.
One of the guys I was watching TV with said that maybe there is a difference between conceding a hole and conceding the match. If Player B had gone over and picked up Player's A coin, then Player A would have been deemed to have won 2 up but since he did not concede the putt, it goes down as a 1 up win.
I guess maybe that is the answer but it sure seems weird to me. Under this interpretation the number of strokes previously played does not seem to matter. Player B could be lying 12 and buried in a bunker and it would still go down as a 1 up win?
Could somebody explain this to me??
Thanks much.
In the situation you described played A definitely wins the match 2up. Seeing as how 5 matches in round robin play finished 2up, I'm thinking the situation or two you saw the facts were different than you remember.
Had no match finished 2up I would say that there is an addendum to the rules this week that states a player can concede the match on the last hole to lose 1up.
