What a long, strange trip it has been

With Padraig winning there is hope for tiger coming back from the yips

Painful finish from a personal perspective but what a final round of golf and happy to pod back in the winners circle.

I'm just glad that Padraig hadn't received the memo about there being no such thing as clutch when he was looking at the putt to make the playoff on 18.

It's remarkable how regularly you hold the wrong opinion about things. You're like a less abrasive version of phb posting at about 1/3 the clip.

Hating on Paddy winning is as dumb as Valentine's Day. Yeah he's painfully slow, in particular down the stretch yesterday, but he's a very likeable 43 year old three time major winner whose career fell off a cliff in recent years. Not just him winning but the way he won is an incredible story.

It was a fantastic interview. Not just walking through the bad shots but going into detail. Kudos to him for doing it on the spot right after the round, considering he has never won in the US and punted away his chance here in painful fashion. Also credit to him for grinding out a birdie-birdie finish. It's almost like he rage birdied the last two holes.

Funny thing is, heading into the back nine these were the scores to par of the final group:

Poulter -8
Reed -6
Harrington -3

And again after the 16th hole:

Harrington -7
Reed -4
Poulter -3

Given their recent history and the way Paddy backed up on the front nine it's astonishing to think that Harrington would be the one in the group who would have the chance to win down the stretch.

The five iron from 179 on the 17th was wtf though...ima just play a 3/4 fade dead into the wind under pressure with water both short and right. Uhhhhhhhhhhhh. The booth was certainly confused.

Disgusting as in I can't believe any of this is happening in a sequence of events kind of disgusting. Not a slight at Padj, more unbelievable really, but I get your drift.

Trivia time!

Q: Tomorrow, this golfer will become the first to compete in 50 World Golf Championships.
03-05-2015 , 12:51 AM
Vijay?
Allenby?
03-05-2015 , 01:05 AM
Nope
03-05-2015 , 01:16 AM
Mickelson?
03-05-2015 , 01:20 AM
Not Phil
03-05-2015 , 01:33 AM
My initial guess was Furyk, that's wrong. I do know the answer but won't spoil it
03-05-2015 , 01:45 AM
Must be some guy who has been around forever but is also entirely forgettable if its a trivia question.

Is joe durant still on tour? Scott hoch?
03-05-2015 , 01:57 AM
Well I can tell you who it ISN'T.
03-05-2015 , 01:57 AM
No, neither of those journeyman have even qualified to play in a WGC in a long time. WGCs are limited field events.
03-05-2015 , 02:04 AM
Looked up the answer. Wasn't my first guess. Pretty tough.

Edit: lol @ Joe Durant and Scott Hoch. Possibly the worst guesses I've seen in regard to anything, ever. Sorry bigeasy.
03-05-2015 , 02:09 AM
I would have to guess Els.
03-05-2015 , 02:13 AM
Lol Els isn't even in the tourney.

Yeah the real answer seems like BS.
03-05-2015 , 02:52 AM
Cink?
03-05-2015 , 03:10 AM
Stevie?
03-05-2015 , 04:16 AM
Nope, still not guessed. Will leave up overnight.

Hints:

He's only missed 4 of the previous 53 WGC events since they started in 1999.
10 top tens in those 49 starts, but zero in the win column.
11-15 career record at the WGC-Match Play, only past the second round once.
3 WDs at Firestone.
