Been thinking lately about moving to somwhere in South America or perhaps somewhere in Asia. Wondering if anybody here has done the same thing and if there is any tips/advice as to where? Also what to expect in living costs, internet connection and accomodation. Guess we want to spend < $3kish/month on rent, maybe more, we're looking for a vn place to stay.

In Argentina, $3000 and month and you should have a mansion, food, bills paid and probably have some change
The internet connection last time I was there was fine, broadband was on the slow side but generally a stable connection.
I was staying with a friend for a few months about 2 years back so things may have changed a bit but probably not a whole lot. As for places to go, Argentina was a great time - great food and wine

I'm originally from S.America.
I recommend you doing some serious research before leaving.
To live in most of the countries there you need residency to be there for more than a couple of months.
Some countries are very tough on some foreigners and if you don't speak their language or you don't know anyone that can help you, you will most likely get ripped off and get in trouble.
Do you at least understand Spanish? Have any friends there?
Yes, with money everything is possible there and 3K per month is A LOT of money.
You can live in a 4bedroom house with a pool, 3 maids, and be ****ing models once a week.
Of course it depends on the country too..The most expensive countries in S.America would be Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. But trust me when I say that 3k can make you king in most places in S.America.
Just know before you go, and also when choosing a place you want to go to a place where there is a significant amount of immigrant families.
If you decide to go to somewhere where 90% or more is just native people, good luck.
You will be spending a little more in this metropolitan cities, but it will be better in so many aspects.
Some recommendations
-Buenos Aires (Arg)
-Santiago (Chi)
-Sao Paolo (Bra)
-Caracas (Ven)

I do wanna recommend Bogota but I feel like that place is way too dangerous..lol
i've never been there, but that's what it seems like..maybe it's a media thing..who knows..

Now, internet connection..hehe you will have a hard time getting used to it, but once you do it will be fine I guess..Internet speed varies greatly depending on the cities..
I'm guessing in all of those cities I recommended, the speed should be pretty decent.
And again, with 3k to spend, you will be able to get a satellite connection which is the fastest you can find in S.America.

idk what citizenship you have, but make sure you know the basic immigration laws.
Don't flash your money there and don't act like you are a rich foreigner because that will draw unwanted attention.

Now, poker...hmmm
poker action sucks in S.America..as far as I know
maybe in Buenos Aires you might find some live action..
If you are planning on playing online, just make sure you get the best connection available..(don't try to google this..not everything is available online like it is in the US) And play online, make lots of money, live a better life than you are living right now, bone the **** out of unbelievably hot chicks and learn a new language..good luck

Also done it for the last year and a half or so in Australia and then Europe (with bit of Asia and Africa). Although had semi homes in Byron Bay in Aus and London. Plenty of wifi around Europe and Aus which makes it easy to work play poker while "homeless".

Don't spend too long in Auckland, plenty more to see in NZ than there, also make sure you make it to Byron bay in Aus, awesome there.
