Jazz Festival until sunday (all kinds of music, not much jazz anymore), until the end of the month it's Festival Juste Pour Rire (Just For Laughs, stand up comedians etc).

For a few months now the casino finally has had real poker tables (used to be lame electronic tables), pretty fishy but the waiting lists suck. They could have more tables technically but don't want to because they aren't profitable for them ; the casinos are owned by the government and they got crazy powerful unions so the dealers earn too much...

Weed is good and very easy to get, however you probably don't want to buy it from street dealers downtown because they will charge you 10$ for 0.6g of ****ty weed (street price here is 10$ = 1g).

Your best bet is probably to go to Mont Royal on sundays afternoon (hippies/tamtams/weed) and ask random people that you see smoking.

If you're more into electronic music and not a hippie you might want to go to picnik electronic on sunday afternoon instead of mont royal. It's a bit like a rave but under the sun during the afternoon, with alcohol.

It's on st-helen island. picnikelectronik.com but the whole site is in french...

Except for tylenol/advil etc you need a prescription, so no.

Picnik electronic can is fun but I would go to Mont Royal. There are plenty of pubs and bars on Rue St. Denis. (Metro Mont Royal). If you don't enjoy some place, you can easily switch venues. Great to meet locals...

Weed is everywhere and fairly easy to get. You can smell it everywhere Just ask people... No need to worry about cops either. They are lazy and don't care unless you screw up really bad...

The casino has some NLHE games. If you go there, get on the 5/10 list since those games are as easy to beat as the 1/2 games. Often, people straddle, get a few limps and then 3b oop to try to buy the pot, which is horrible when they do it every single time. However, live games are so boring that you won't be able to make a winrate as big as 12 tabling 1/2 NL online.

Is there any 1/2, 2/4 online reg in the Montreal area? I don't know any of them and would be interested in meeting them.

Screw that - the Bixi system is completely whack. I have a subscription and it's completely gone to ****e because people have vandalized the bikes and the docking stations. Now it's terribly inconvenient because you can arrive at a docking station and none of them will work so you have to go find another one (where they also might be broken) so by the time you find a docking station with a working loading bay you're usually very far from your intended destination. The designers really screwed the pooch on this one. You're better off buying a bike and lock and abandonning when you leave.
