Vegas, Austin, or Seattle.... to live. Vegas, Austin, or Seattle.... to live.

Myself and another MSNL player have decided that in the fall we are moving out of Iowa. We are looking into states with zero % state tax, and have narrowed our search to Vegas, Austin Tx, or Seattle Wa. We are looking for any info regarding how sick these cities are. We are also open to suggestions regarding new cities so long as they are in zero % income tax states. Any suggestions, advice, pics, stories or info regarding these cities would be great in helping us determine where to move come Aug.

Thanks BBV4life

Added: We both have spent some time in Vegas, and like the entertainment/atmosphere, but are a little worried about the sort of women you can find there to settle down with.

Never been to Vegas but went to Seattle for a week and it was cool. I have lived in Austin for 3 years. The weather is 100 in the summer and winter is 25-30 for about 3 weeks or so and NO snow. Lots to do in the city as well as outlying towns. University of Texas is here with its 50k students and Tx State is 30 minutes away with its 20k students. So a lot of young people. There is a pretty good entertainment district. The kind where they close the street and you just stumble from one bar to another without getting run over. If playing online is going to be your only source of income then you can always take a couple of days and drive 4.5 hours to Winstar casino in OK or 6 hours to Lake Charles, La. Girls? Hell yeah!! We know how to grow em here. There is also no state tax, just federal. Good luck to you guys.

Just a suggestion, if you are using tax rates to dictate your choices: use a cost of living comparison web site to get a better idea of the real situation, I think some zero income tax states might be more expensive since you just get taxed in different ways.

e.g. New Hampshire is another zero income tax state (I have been looking at these states for the same reasons!), but if you are going to buy a house, I think property taxes are much higher than average.

Colorado (as an example) is not a zero income tax state, but it has a very low tax rate, and there are probably a load of low state income tax states you might consider.

Some resources I have looked up:

Cost of living comparison
State income tax levels
MSN article

I have lived in Seattle and Austin, also spent a drunk month in vegas. I personally would rule out Vegas to live in but thats me. Anyway Seattle and Austin are both great cities I am not sure what criteria you want to use to make a decision on them. I will say this since you mentioned women, UT is pretty hard to beat for hot girls in fact almost impossible to beat. On the other side Seattle has some of the ugliest women around. My friend warned me before I got up there and i did not believe him. Its true there just never seems to be that many Hot girls around in Seattle.

I lived on Alki beach in Seattle for 2 years and as far scenery goes Seattle is awesome. You have Mt Ranier, Olympic Mountains and just too many places to list to do justice to. You should know that Seattle is quite expensive. There are Casinos so thats a plus.

Austin is quite scenic too and if you like mountain biking they have a pretty active community there. Austin is just a cool city all around the people, the places, and of course the bars. No casinos and since you are in Central Texas you probably will not drive to Lousiana.

Anyway I could ramble on about how I love both cities for quite sometime. If you have any specific questions you can just ask. If you get your choice down to Seattle or Austin I would say if you are under 27 years old pick Austin hands down just for price and girl factor. If you have money and into alot of outdoor activities then go Seattle.

Online poker is a class C felony in the state of Washington, so you might want to avoid Seattle if you care about stuff like that.

i might move to austin in a few months with a friend and his friend who both play midstakes. I live in north dallas right now.

Austin is really humid and hot throughout the summer but the Winters are great. It probably doesnt ever hit freezing temp. It's a big city but also has UT for the college atmosphere. Tons of music and culture. There are a lot of hippy types around, compared to the rest of the south.
The nearest casino in OK is probably 4.5 hours away, I'm not sure how far it is to the LA ones.

Austin ftw. Lived there for one year now. Lots of online poker players. Great nightlife for both bar and club scenes, great live music scene. Lots of girls, laid back mentality, great wilderness and fun outdoor stuff to do. In NY for the summer but will be returning mid august. G/l with moving.
