Travelling with your desktop

I'm, wondering about checking my iMac as luggage and getting insurance on it, or possibly fitting it as a carry on. I'm going from Canada to Thailand so shipping would be very expensive.
How did you travel with your desktop?

Yeah I've just checked my desktop in the original box it came in, wrapped up very tight, a few times, without any major problems

put to ur checking luggage, wrap up clothes, towels etc and should be good.
tested on 50 flights by me and my friends.
