Evening all,

My wife and I are looking for somewhere to stay for a few months before hitting Australia due to immigration issues. We're thinking something in Asia, with a beach, and great food and drink, but not totally isolated as we don't want to get bored with all the laid-back sun and doing nothing thing. We obviously have money, but we also don't want to break the bank either as we're moving back to Australia and we have to set ourselves up when we get there. I'm not into scummy backpacker hostels anymore, but obviously staying in a boutique hotel for two months would be a bit unrealistic.

The time period is Januray to March. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I've been checking out Thailand and Lombok and a few other places, and they look good and all, but I thought I would throw this post out there if anyone knows some hidden gem. I'll be using this time to finish off my book, (I think it will be my last chance for a long while to nail it), so I'd really appreciate any ideas you have.
