Random travel -- ideas from Bangkok? Random travel -- ideas from Bangkok?

Martin (MagicNinja) and I were up all night last night out at the bars in Melbourne for the last night of Aussie Millions and this morning I was supposed to take a flight back to VA and start school back up tomorrow.

Instead, on the way to the airport we decided we would fly to wherever we could get a ticket and do some traveling. We're playing some Chinese poker in the airport right now and have a flight leaving for Bangkok in an hour -- it was the only flight outta this country with seats on it.

Where should we go from there? He's already lived in Thailand a bit and we want to check out something new. Preferably somewhere warm, islandy, with a good beach/bar/girls scene, but any suggestions would be great. Somewhere we can get to from Bangkok via plane/boat/car/etc of course.

Thanks
Cole / Martin

Well after Australia and Thailand, my next pick for good beach scenes in the area would be either Fiji or Tahiti, followed next by Hawaii. Surprised you left Australia, though, if that's what you were looking for.

Philipines, Indoneasia.

If you want to throw money around Tokyo might work. Japan sucks for beaches though IMO.

Also, Sri Lanka might be fun.

So we just got to Koh Samui, a Thai island, and picked up a hotel room -- it's nice and a good beach relaxation sort of thing for now. Not sure what's next but we've been up for like 3 days straight and are going to crash soon I'm sure. Thanks for the suggestions! Where should we go next?

Hey, I just got back from KK, Kota Kinabula, Malaysia in Sabah.

If your lookin for something different besides the typical thailand adventure, go there.

Some of the best seafood in the the world, places like HK, Bangkok, and all over Asia get there good seafood from there.

Has nice ass beaches, smaller type beach islands, and resorts, and also some of the best diving spots in the world.

Has Mount Kinabula, Highest mountain in SE Asia, you can climb it in 2 days, u stop half way at a hostile type place, wake up at 2am to finish for sunrise.

Has Jungles and ****, so you can trekkin through and see monkeys and ****.

If your looking to just party, get drunk and find girls, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place, but to see some beautiful parts of this earth, def a good stop man.

Im trying to go to Bali, or Laos during Chinese New Years, but unsure about Bali with whatever is going on there right now.

you should wait around for either a full or half moon party on ko pan yang. and get there 3 days before it starts - 1 if it's half moon - and get a room setup. in the meantime you should rent some scooters and trash around samui, ride them up the hills and see the waterfalls or do an elephant ride, eat some pancakes, go to the green leopard and reggie bar. go the the hendrix bar if you want shrooms. after all that if it's still not time for full moon learn to dive in ko tao. or kite surf on samui. etc etc!

both those islands are less than a hour from samui by boat. don't go to phi phi yet. it would be stupid to have gone to the middle of the gulf then leave it.

you should see bkk on your way out. then do this all again.
