Port Moody, Canada? Port Moody, Canada?

Edit: mods please move this to the Travel section. I had multiple tabs open and was in the wrong tab when posting this

Like many others, my wife and I are looking to move to the Vancouver area to play some poker at the beginning of 2012. I have done a good bit of research, but haven't found anything on the Port Moody area.

We like this area of town because:

-from my research, rent seems to be cheaper
-Port Moody seems to have a decent amount of shops, pubs, and restaurants within walking distance.
-There seems to be some parks near by, which is important because we have a dog.
-Very convenient train to downtown Vancouver

I haven't really found anything going against it. So any insight would be greatly appreciated! Also please let me know if anything I listed isn't true.

We are making a trip up to this area in a few weeks to find an area/place to live. If you have any other suggestions that fit the points above we are open to look at those.

Thanks!

Most of what you have found is correct. It is a more affordable yet nice suburb of Vancouver.

Also, if I show up at the border with a truck (and possibly a trailer) full of household stuff (clothes, bed, kitchen stuff, etc), will I need to show I have enough cash to support myself, wife and dog for the entire stay?

I have read posts where people tell the border officer they are just staying for a week or two, but it will be obvious that I will be up there longer than that.

I have also heard it being a pain to get back into the US with a bunch of stuff. Has anyone else had this experience? Would it be better to find a place that has everything we need besides the necessities like clothes, computer, dog stuff?
