How much is the rent for someone that just wants to rent a small studio? I see ppl mention there are 100-150 poker players here but does almost everyone have a roommate or is there some ppl who are just there by themselve only?

Is this location preferred as oppose to Carmen Playa? Would it be a problem if you have no car at all?

Mostly everyone has a roommate, I have my own upper end 2bdr place and it runs me $1400/month. Rusemandingo has his own 1bdr place and I think his is $700 or $800/month or something like that...I know theres a couple other people that live by themselves but most people have a roommate/s.

No car is fine although obvs sometimes a pain in the ass (just like anywhere if you don't have a car)....would guess ~50% of people down here have a car.

For me, Rosa > PDC just because its close to the US and close to the US live poker hotspots, LA anD LV

Well $600-$700 a month is certainly a great deal for one person. Do you know how much it would cost total when you add in utilities? Thing is all i need is internet. Also, i dont watch television anymore so i dont need that a TV.

How long is the lease that one has to sign? So you have to leave there once every 90 days like those other countries or can you basically stay there as long as you want?

Also would Rosarito be the ideal location then because of the time schedule? I know if someone moves to say thailand or some other country not in north america... the volume for stt would be pretty bad along with tournaments as those sunday tournies would start 3am time?

Another question, what is the location of the airport if one wants to leave rosarito to las vegas? Checking out orbitz now and don't see rosarito. Which airport is it?

okay so one doesn't have a car, what is the option to get to san diego from rosarito?

1. Trolley to the border (you can get to the trolley station easily from the SD airport) > walk across the border (very easy) > cab on the mexico side to take you to Rosa
2. Cab to the border > walk across > cab on mexican side
3. Driving service pick you up at the airport and drives you straight down (usually most expensive option, but I use a driver as it's just easier)

I seen an add posted on a studio in las gaviotas for $400 per month.... from what I can tell this price is average for similar places.

Thanks. Well that price is very low so i would be a bit worried. Can someone here who lives in a studio in Rosarito tell me how much it cost them per month? If its 700 per month for a small studio that would be perfect for me.

Depends on where you are from. US citizens can stay up to 180 days w/ a passport I believe. Laws are currently changing though and I'm not up to speed on all that.

They don't care, have met locals (gringos) that have lived here for 20+ yrs without ever going back to the States and they don't have an FM2/FM3/other long term Visa and have literally never had problems

Okay i see.

Can someone who lives in Rosarito who lives by themselve in a studio tell me how much it cost there? I'm from the east coast and it seems like this would be the best location for someone that wants to relocate and not have that 6 month a year rule like canada.

The studio was nice. I was also staying in a decent two bedroom and it cost $800 per month.

I drove from Massachusetts and all I can say is that if you move to Rosarito all of your wildest dreams will come true.

Hi. So you moved from a studio to a two bedroom apartment? If so how much did the studio cost? I wouldn't need a 2 bedroom as it would be just myself but $800 for a 2bedroom is unbelieveable already,. Did you have to sign a lease for at least 6 month or 1 year? How much does your utilities cost per month? Also where did you buy a bed/furniture?

I would like to know how much it would cost per month to live there for a single guy living in a studio apartment solely for grinding. If rent cost 800 how much does internet/water/electricity cost total?

Thanks.

Is it possible to live in San Diego and commute to Mexico just to play Sundays? Would I be playing in a cafe or something? Do people do that or is it just not rational?

Hey Ibet and others,

Just a quick clarification. I've read a significant amount of this thread. Lots of post by a guy named Miguel who was a real estate agent, numerous 2+2ers looking for the bananas, one guy talking about punching another guy in the nose over a joke about his girlfriend, and heaps of RoomateWanted/RoomWanted posts. I've also perused the Detroit community thread for occasional commuters as well as Buffalo. I've learned that most border crossings have some version of easy pass usually for a nominal fee. I've seen some people making a few weeks long vacations.

What I haven't really seen is how and if people play online for at most 4 days per month, as serious casual players. This is more specific to my situation and if it doesn't belong ITT let me know. I'm considering a move with my wife. One of the cities is San Diego (both of our jobs have locations there). Were I able to drive across the border to play small stakes MTT's when I had time (3/4 times per month) that would be really appealing to me and a HUGE plus mark for SD, already the leader in the clubhouse if we do move.

Are there players who come down to Rosa for the day? Do they play in cafes or do they connect with one of you guys and set up in a living room? If they are in your living room do they pay $50 month for 4 day access? $100? or is this quite negotiable? Is there another alternative that I haven't considered/heard like group office space?
