Do online grinders count as bad apples?

i only have experience in america but for that price you could easily find a place twice as large outside of city centers.

if you want to live like a chinese person making 5k a month china is cheap. if you want foreign food and to go clubbing it can get very expensive even if you just go every once in awhile. in second tier cities at a nice club 6 beers will be 100 rmb in major cities that starts at 200.
yes totally agree with u, bloody ex,
well, for the chinese, they are able to get money easily thru contacts, or.....

for 5k a month, hmmmm.... really no comment..

if baller in a nice posh club ( Yiwu),
1 cognac cost 780rmb, included 4 cans of coke, and 4 bottles of mineral bottle, and u r able to ask gals to drink together...

so yes, in a way getting expensive

Is any1 currently living in Shanghai?

A friend of mine asked me to visit him and stay for the summer, but as he is just one of those uber-busy Chinese (working like 60-70 hours a week), it could become a little boring in the long run. I could spend a few hours a day with his kids and teach them German, but well...

I was thinking about renting one of those 5000 rmb apartments for a month or two, grinding online and maybe go check out the live action (my friend knows a few places he could introduce to me). I guess if I use VPN everything should be fine, right?

isn't that sortve cheap for import alcohol at a club/table? especially a high end club?

a high end club in vegas, bottles started at 550+tax/tip, and it's usually a multiple bottle minimum depending on table/how many guys etc

No tax. No tip. Also this is a 3rd world country. You can get bottle service for 4-5 people stating around 550.

Buying bottles of liquor in Vegas and second tier cities in China probably not the best comparison.

Need some advice...

Looking for some kind of relaxing lake/mountain (swimming) resortish type all included place with a 12 hr train ride of Beijing. Spa would be a bonus. Was considering Heaven Lake in Xinjang, but too far from Beijing.

Not too crowded, clean air, good value/cheap would be ideal. Also, it must be in a region that serves halal food.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

in Sanlitun there is the Uama teppanyaki what i think is good. . It's always fun , lot's of food and Sake and beer too.

image is a random teppanyaki...

or some good South korean BBQ. afterwards we could go to sanlitun bar street or whatever.

maybe some people are interested, would be nice to have a small Beijing get together

Other possibilities... some kind of nice beach? Or also river rafting? (Anywhere good for this?)

Think I prefer somewhere in mainland china though.

Thanks again.

Just fly to Thailand if you want a beach, Sanya and the like suck.

Guilin is alright for this.

I don't know why you want to put up with a long ass train ride when flying mostly costs the same and is less of a hassle.

Not too crowded
Basically everything of touristic interest is crowded with busloads of local tourists these days unless it's really remote.

A Langzhou lamian joint can be found pretty much anywhere in China.

Lanzhou lamian...yummy stuff. I'd recommend the Inner Mongolia provinces Gansu and Qinghai...plenty of mountains and lakes/rivers. I hear there's violence in Xinjiang now...best avoid.

Aha, do you have some specific cities or resorts or mountains or lakes to swim in you could recommend? (In those provinces)

Flying into Beijing for the first time on Friday via Almaty. Completely clueless about what's to come.

Traveling with a Chinese girl so has to be in China.

I prefer night trains to flights + save a night in the hotel. It's a good cultural experience I think. Have to have at least one long train ride in China. Will take the train from Beijing to Urumqi in late July.

About Lamian... a bit clueless on China, but was thinking of going to Hunan and couldn't find much on halal there. Don't think they have a big muslim population.

Hunan is probably the most nationalistic province since it was where Mao was born...not much to see in Hunan/Hubei anyways...

PLEASE reconsider this. My roommate has done it in the past (he is from XinJiang) and its a 40 hour train ride. Keep in mind the toilets will break after hour 1.

You will be absolutely miserable. and its only a 3 hour flight.

Chinese people can now get a visa on arrival in Thailand. It's getting more and more easy to travel out of China as people living in big cities are becoming more wealthy.

If you want to experience how fortunate you are that you're not a peasant migrant worker, then yes. Your experience will largely amount to hardship or boredom on the train, depending on the class you're in and if better quality sleeper departments are available on the route.

Just ask a cab driver to take you to a lanzhou lamian place, they're more or less all over China and run by muslims.
