I think ToT is the service to avoid 1.5mg to 150 customers but the other ones name escapes me. It is only 1.5mg per 8 customers.
anyone out there care to elaborate?
I'll elaborate, but can't offer a solution. I just posted a thread in the internet gambling forum asking about Thai ISPs. Most are brutal. I have been using BuddyBB for over a year and I am at my wit's end with them. Its 1/512 but I speedtest in peak times at 70/20! I get disconnections on some poker rooms every 30 seconds, making them unplayable. This destroys my attempts at bonuswhoring, which I need to do now cuz I had a really bad month at the tables. The only rooms I've been able to use are Mansion and (ugh) Pacific, but I haven't tried them all yet.
You are correct that ToT is also to be avoided. The one whose name you can't think of is most likely True, Tot's main competitor, which is also terrible, but apparently slightly better. Does anybody out there use True (in Bkk) with luck? Please tell me cuz I need a solution.
All ISPs here engage in packet shaping, and I think that affects gambling (maybe you techies can confirm this). The problem is not only with the ISPs but CAT Telecom, which has a monopoly on international bandwith, and doesn't have enough to go around. Compounding that is that the ISPs are too stingy to lease enough bandwith for their customers. True was recently allowed to set up its own international pipeline or whatever, but its been a complete disaster and doesn't work at all.
Oh, additionally, due to CAT's idiocy, almost all connections to Europe, where most poker servers are located, go all the way through the USA, slowing it even more.
You rich folks out there have the option of leasing a direct line from CAT for like 400 dollars a month. Additionally, you can check some of the ISP's business packages. They often promise 4/2, meaning you might get 256/124 if you are lucky. Some people are really lucky and get speeds near what is promised, but I have no idea how. A lot of it depends on location, i.e. proximity to telephone exchanges and CAT headquarters (near Don Muang). There is no correllation in this country between the advertised features of a product and it's actual performance.
Some people recommend KSC, which is quite expensive, but I don't know much about that.
If anyone is playing successfully here, PLEASE tell me your ISP and plan. I am desperate. I can't afford much at all-- I'm just a student and a micro-stakes hobbyist.
