Moving from U.S. to Brazil Moving from U.S. to Brazil

I want to move to Floripa/Porto Alegre and I was hoping some people here can answer a few questions I have about it.

1. After the 180 day visa is up, is there any way to get a new visa? I'm not keen on the idea of investing money in Brazil as I've heard it's very difficult to get it back out of the country.

2. How do you get house stuff (furniture, electronics etc) into the country relatively cheaply on a visa?

3. How would a poker player declare himself to the government?

my understanding is that you only have 180 days. brazil has nice people but some weird ways of doing things.

That's pretty lame and makes it very difficult to move there.

Is it true you cannot reenter Brazil for a long time if you stay much longer than 180 days on an extended tourist visa? I know they fine you 8 $R a day or so but assuming you pay that.

In other words, can you just stay as long as you want, leave and pay the fine, then reenter without problems?
