Depends on when you are moving, but I could be of help.

I have a room free in a 4 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment that is located at the seafront of Sliema close to St Julians. Its on the first floor at the boulevard with a nice balcony.

The apartment is equipped with everything that is needed to grind, think off office desks, chairs, and screens, beamer etc.

The people living in the apartment are high stakes grinders at NLH and PLO.

Having friends over for a while is no problems the rooms are big enough.

The price per month is 550, so should be well within your budget.

If you are looking for an one bedroom apartment then I would suggest to look in the area of St Julians and Sliema. The websites of the realters and not great, and most of the houses that are offered are actually occupied. Best thing is to come over to Malta and start searching here with a realter.

You only need an EU passport. With that you can open a bank account. you dont have to register yourself as self employed or anything. Think its still a bit of a grey area with the poker players living here.

Thanks. I managed to get the application in OK. The immigration office was utterly chaotic though! Never seen anything like it. If anyone else is wondering about this, poker players have to prove they are self-sufficient, and the women at the desk told me I needed proof I had at least 14k Euros in savings for that (bank statements, basically).

Could anyone tell me the best grocery stores, and any that I should avoid? Best quality/freshest vegetables and fruit, etc. Do any grocery stores deliver?

Recommendations for places to eat would be great too, especially any places that deliver.

Hahaha yes i remember it all well the whole process was very amusing. Does your card also expire after 6 months ? Mine expired like months ago but I can still use for everything and they keep telling me that it does not matter. There was even an old lady in the line at the Melita office showing me a card that expired years ago.

Places to eat

For Asian food i would recommend temptasian in the palace hotel in Sliema, and for Italian food La Vecchia Napoli or Picolo padre.

But just explore it a bit most restaurents in the sliema/st julians area are decent.

Best quality with veg and fruit is from the trucks outside in my opinion.

can anyone recommend a site for renting a holiday property in st julians for a week. have obviously found a few on the net but if anyone has a particular site they have used in the past they could recommend it would be much appreciated.
