Does anyone know about some good chinese bistro in Sliema? Not restaurant where I wait a longer time, but more like fastfood. Good rice is important for me, some kung pao chicken with that would be perfect.

Thanks.

That was a really good idea, so I created a group. Feel free to add me to Skype as "machtisonni". I'll add you to the group, too.

Edit: Everybody's obviously welcome to join the group. Just add me on Skype.

Hello. I'm new to 2+2 and hope I'm posting in the right place. I'm an American who desires to move to Malta this summer to continue playing on PokerStars, to enjoy the scenery and finally see some of Europe. I'm mainly a MTT player. My PokerStars handle is 'pokerstudy'. I'm also a poker dealer with a Las Vegas, Nevada gaming license to deal poker. I have a few questions and need some guidance on this matter from knowledgeable people that have been there done that. I thank you in advance for any and all help on this matter.

1. What documents are needed in order to start a bank account in Malta? What is the difficultly level and time frame to accomplish this?

2. What documents are needed in order to reactivate my PokerStars account? What is the difficulty level and time frame to accomplish this?

3. Do I need a visa to spend the 90 days there, or is my passport good enough?

4. What are current players living there doing to stay beyond the original 90 days?

5. Suggestions on Greek banks and their current safety level? Should I deposit my entire bankroll or leave some in my USA bank to access later? Can you access your USA bank account from the island using ATM or other services?

6. Are there any good real estate services that help you find a place to live?

7. Where can one find similar people relocating or have relocated to Malta in order to continue their poker career since Black Friday? I would like to meet like others who have done this for similar reasons.

Again, thanks in advance for any and all help/suggestions on this matter. I wouldn't mind living on my own or finding a room to rent with other online poker players, so if anyone knows anyone who is looking, please let me know. Thanks and good luck at the tables! pm me or email at [email protected]

Just a Maltese ID card. This can be obtained by going to the ID registry office with your passport. Dead simple and can be done in 5 minutes provided you get there in the morning when they open. Otherwise, it can be busy.

Quote:
Not 100% on this but as far as I know, it's just a proof of address. Your Maltese ID card will have your address on it so I reckon that should work.
3. Do I need a visa to spend the 90 days there, or is my passport good enough?

Quote:
Again, not 100% for Americans but for Europeans, there's no hassle and no visa needed. My girlfriend is living here with me and hasn't claimed residency here and doesn't plan to either.

Yes, the estate agents here are very good. I e-mailed 3 agencies with a list of what we needed and our budget. I had a response in a matter of minutes with a list of possible places and 2 days later she picked us up and brought us to view 3 houses.

The only thing is, you have to pay an agency fee which is half your rent.
7. Where can one find similar people relocating or have relocated to Malta in order to continue their poker career since Black Friday? I would like to meet like others who have done this for similar reasons.

Quote:
Around Sliema/St.Julians/Swieki seems to be place for relocation. One of the 3 houses we went to look at, 3 doors up the road from the one we took, actually got taken by 5 US poker players.

Sorry I don't have an answer for 4 & 5. Maybe an American can shed some light for you.

Im heading with a few more to Corks bar tomorrow evening 5.30 to celebrate St Patrick day plus Ireland V England in the six nations rugby championship is kicking off at 6pm. Calling on non Irish poker players to call in and support us against the English (shouldn't take too much convincing to do that!).
