Pub Street and all the streets around it were crazy packed last night. I went into the throngs of it for the midnight countdown and then watched the mass exodus that happened right after. It's cool to see, but I tend to find that type of thing more claustrophobic than enjoyable.
I personally love Siem Reap. It's such a touristy town that the level of customer service is unparalleled in Cambodia. Everything is so clean and the main area is filled with proper shops and restaurants. There is a block that's just filled with Korean restaurants, those much better than here. As far as the Girly situation is definitely more subdued than Phnom Penh, but there are plenty of places and the massage places list HJ's right on the menu. I don't give a sh*t about Angkor Wat though and I could probably do without Pub Street post 10:00 PM.

Hi, after spending one year in Thailand I gonna move to Cambodia soon. Gonna be playing poker there, mostly online.
Just wanted to ask if there is a lot of poker games going on in the casionos in SHV or Phnom Penh, I was reading they are building incredibly many casinos especially in SHV.

And what would be the minimum stakes?
Greetings from Thailand.

Min stakes in PP are 1/3NL, in SHV 1/2 or 1/1. Watch out for the rake

I agree with you about customer service and restaurants. Pretty much everyone here seems to speak great English and most seem to go out of their way to help in any way possible. I went into a dentist's office to see if I could get a mouth guard. They didn't have one but a guy got up from whatever he was doing (playing PUBG, actually) and drove me on his motorbike to another dentist's office. Then, he waited for me and drove me back. Really oddly nice and completely unnecessary customer service.

Clean? Maybe some parts of SR are clean compared to some parts of PP, but the area I walk around every day is super dirty. I'm kinda used to it and it doesn't bother me much, but I think most from the first world would be shocked at how dirty the streets are.

My main problem is probably just staying here too long. If I was here for 3 days or something I think I'd like it a lot. I'm here for a month, though, and it's gotten pretty old and boring after about 10 days.

updates about the Naga game.

2/5 average 2 tables per night sometimes 3. game is infested with a fair amounth off regs and fishes. Recently the rake was increased in the smaller pots. so another dollar here and there off the table.
the Cap with 20$ really hurts and just throwing bunch off money off the table.

5/10 runs maybe average 3-5 times per week depens what regs want to play it usually just a small circle. Cap is 25$ game can be really good when right fish sits down.

1/3 2/3 tables per night.

in my opinion with the slow dealers and the very high rake i wouldnt recommend anyone grinding there longterm. hands per hour prob 15-18 on Average.

The room manager Chris trying his best for the room although his increasedthe rake ok the smaller pots with no ectra benefits for the players
which made many off the 1/3 player regs angry at him and some /5 refgs too.

Naga has a significant amount of Chinese, and some other Asians, the poker rooms not so much, mostly white dudes and bongs

An announcement of sorts. Those who follow my Facebook page know that I post videos from my online sessions every once in a while. But the truth is that for the past three months I haven't been playing that much at all. The reason for that is I've been trying to revive the Siem Reap project that seems to have been placed on the back burner in perpetuity. The project has become somewhat of a holy grail for me so I partnered up with my friend who had arranged our authorization and proceeded to find investors. We got about a little over halfway there in terms of capital when I took my mini holiday to Kampot last week. While there a shareholder of Riverking sought me out for a meeting, during which he told me the room's desire to also open a room in Siem Reap. It was originally my intention to try and get him to join our group. But it soon became apparent that he would be doing the project as part of the larger group and we weren't going to abandon our plans either. Having said that we all concluded that it would be wiser to work together rather than oppose one another. So after a few days of deliberation and negotiating, the Riverking group has absorbed ours and we will work together to open the room as a Riverking entity.

It will be a projected 90 day build out with opening day currently slated as April 7, 2019. We will open with a big tournament follow by what we believe will be a variety of cash games. I will be the general manager of the room and will pick my own team in terms of management. The other staff members will be selected jointly. Siem Reap is one of those polarizing things that people think will either work like gangbusters or fail in a similarly spectacular fashion. As for us, we firmly believe that we have an infrastructure in place for what will produce good and sustainable games. At the very least it will be fun finding out.

In the meantime, the aforementioned shareholder has asked me to help out a bit with the room in Phnom Penh. So while I won't have any shifts per se, you should see me popping my head in once in a while. Be sure to say hello but please be kind as I haven't played holdem in a while.

The $5,000 monthly guarantee at Riverking has been moved from this Sunday to the following on the 13th at 3:00 PM. I plan on playing and hope to see some of you there as I haven't seen many of you in a while.

In the meantime the Red Fox should have their regular slate of tourneys on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The weeknight events are at 7:00 PM while the Saturday event is at 6:00 PM. Although I went to the one last Saturday and it was moved to 7:00 PM as well. I'm not sure if that was a one off or a permanent change. I'm hoping to make tonight's event and will update everyone on the time if possible.

Where’s RiverKing, is it RiverKing 1 Pub by Pontoon? What time do games start? Do Naga games run all day?

Just came from Siem Reap, for tourist I don’t think a club will work there. Most only stay a night or two for Angkor and leave, I didn’t think It was that much. Just some ruins. Idk about locals

Yes, the one by Pontoon is correct. The first holdem game starts shortly after 11:00 AM. And regarding Siem Reap the tourists one would encounter on an average visit aren't exactly who we're going for. Although they're certainly welcome.

Went out with a friend last night and had a few drinks, starting at the new Drink Bar on street 136 right next to Secrets. I bought a few drinks for a girl I've taken home before and she pissed on my shorts. I was working my hand down there so maybe I triggered something. First time for everything I guess. Photos and videos are harder to take on the riverside these days but wish I had footage of that one.

I’m planning on moving to Cambodia (Phnom penh) and am wondering about a few things:

- Coming to Cambodia on a one way ticket, visa issues? Are you allowed to enter Cambodia with an on-site visum with no return ticket? Will I be asked what I’m there for?

- Housing, I’m planning on just getting an apartment once I’m there and living in a hotel in the meantime, fine plan? Is the process smooth, can I expect to have an apartment within a week or two? what’s the lease like, possible to get a 6 month or shorter contract? What’s the deposit and will I get it back once I leave?

- Bank account, assuming I can open one once I have a rental contract proving I’m living in Cambodia?

- Poker sites, any sites not allowing you to play from Cambodia? I’m playing on Unibet atm and would hate to give it up. Gonna ask unibet support after this but they’re often slow to answer so asking here as well.

- Anything I should know/be aware of?

Appreciate any input, hope to see some of you in the future and happy 2019

No problems here, just make sure you get a business visa if you're planning on staying long term, not a tourist one. If you're asked what you're here for just say looking for a job.

Plan is fine, find an estate agent & tell them your budget and preferred area and they'll take you around apartments and you should find one. I've always found one within a couple of days. Standard lease length is six months, deposit is one months rent which is used to pay the last month of your stay. Though these could vary obviously.

No bans afaik, I played on Unibet for the best part of two years and had to show proof of address living in PP so definitely no issues on Unibet for you.

Welcome to PP!

1) Coming in on a 1 way ticket is no problem. Sam is correct about the business or ordinary visa. But be careful if saying you're looking for work as they may give you a looking for work visa, which is completely different. Get the ordinary (business) visa for $35 then contact me in about 2.5 weeks. I have a guy who can extend for your up to 1 year without a work permit. In the application where they ask type of business you can write almost anything as they hardly ever check. I always used to write that I was buying a business. One time I just wrote the word "business." Swear to God, they didn't even look twice.

2) Your plan is fine. Leases are usually 6 months or 1 year. They'll ask for a 1 month deposit on a 6 month lease and a 2 month deposit on a year lease. Getting something shorter is a bit tougher. I use a great property guy who can find you anything from one month to to a year so let me know if you need any assistance.

3) Depending on the bank and teller you'll also need an extension on your visa of at least 6 months. I agree with Sam that ABA is your best option.

4) Not sure but I'd trust Sam's answer.

5) Just get with some other players that have been here for a while as soon as you get here. Most are more than happy to help and give you the lay of the land.

I've been looking to integrate back into live play a bit lately so I've played the Red Fox tourney the last few weeks and also I played some Omaha and holdem at Riverking the last couple of days. I didn't cash in any of the events and I'm down about $100 over at Riverking for the two sessions, so meh. It was really great seeing some old friends as I haven't really been part of the live scene as of late. And a lot of them seem to be back in town right now so I'll have to get in all the fun I can before I go up to Siem Reap in about two months.

In that spirit I've been hanging out the last few nights with one of the 5-10 PLO players, who's also Korean and a good friend. We hit up street 104 since I haven't been there in a while and that can only mean one thing; FML I always end up at Rose Bar! We actually hit up Air Force Bar first to hang out with my favorite meth user who laughs like Fran Dresher. Then of course we ended up at Rose and then the hotel across the street and Yada, Yada Yada.

Is there any casino in Sihanoukville that holds 1/2 game with 5% rake instead of the criminal 7%??

Thank you in advance

I will be grinding live here for about a month, already two days. Happy if I could meet other regs here and share or just hangout.

You can try kampong som city casino, can't guarantee but rake is probably 5% capped at $15 they should have game every day in the evening, maybe la vogue has also a 1/2 game with similar rake like kampong som..

Oriental 1/2 is rake wise the worst since the Chinese took over the game..

Re: 1 way ticket -

I was required by Air Asia to show proof of onward travel when I came to Siem Reap from Bangkok. Without a proper plan in place, I ended up buying a return ticket I didn't use. Was there something I could have told the check-in counter that would have gotten around this requirement?

I did not need to show anyone the onward travel once I got to Cambodia and applied for the visa.

No, I believe the airline can have their policy require onward travel even if Cambodia doesn't require it. You should check with the airline or at the least check when you arrive and be prepared to schedule some last minute onward travel.

You can also ask if they have a liability waiver you can sign saying they aren't responsible for your return ticket.
Living in Cambodia and turning Pro Quote

Airlines just don't want to have any trouble with passengers not allowed in. You can prolly work with them to resolve it. You can also buy or rent throwaway onward tickets online. They never asked me for a return ticket when travelling Cambodia but they did to the Philippines and just recently to the US.
I only played the 2/5/(10) but IIRC the Oriental Pearl 1/2 used to have a relatively decent rake. But it might have changed.
GL with the Siem Riep room Mike, I am sure to visit some time.
