I can't seem to PM you (new user). Can you give me some details of the accomodation on offer here please? I'm thinking of coming in this weekend to play for a while.

The details of the promotion are if you are a new player you can get three free nights at the hotel for three hours of cash game play each day. The days thereafter are 50% off at $10 per night. The promotion is for one week, so three free nights and four nights at $10. But players have asked to stay longer than that and we've always extended it for them. If you are a returning player, we still extend the 50% discount for any day you play three hours of cash game play.

If you can't reach me by PM, feel free to ask any questions here. Here is a link to our Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/riverkingpokercambodia/

Edit: The promotion is subject to availability of rooms. We currently have ten players staying at the hotel so let me know when you would be arriving and I'll check if there is a room available.

I finally had a day off yesterday so among other things I decided to go play at Naga. I haven't played there in three months and I had heard some reports as of late that they had brought in some new dealers. While initially one may think that such need is good, what I had heard mostly was that these dealers were completely green and that the game had died down even more than before. We got started around 8:30 PM and started the first table. We were actually seated a bit earlier but it took a while to get the first hand up since the cashier gives every player $100 black chips and the dealer has to give everyone smaller chips. And also the dealer was getting on the site training as she didn't understand the posting of the blinds nor how the button moved.

The game didn't last long as the table broke around 10:00 PM as it disintegrated into a cluster fu*k of mistakes and slow dealing. We left as one of my friends was telling at the "manager" for why they had brought in an entire crew of untrained dealers. Another friend remarked that this was the best form of advertising for the Riverking and it does make sense as we've seen an uptick of Naga players in our room recently. It's not quite how I wanted to spend my night off but at least I won $28!

Last time I played Naga had to wait around 30min for the 1st table to fill. Dealt like 3 hands and then they called deck change. Lol
So the cards had been sitting there waiting for players for 12hrs and then when they finally get a game going they stop for a deck change.
Classic Naga

That's exactly when the table broke last night. It was on life support as it was, but when they called for the deck change at 10:00 PM, everyone pretty much left.

Why does poker in these parts tend to suck so bad? Surely there are enough players around to get more than one decent venue rolling. Or am I completely wrong and there are just not enough players to make a good room profitable? At least there is always pokerstars and 888, but it would be nice to have a selection of good live games (although I tend to do bad live, it's still fun).

Our schedule as of late has been that the first holdem game will start around 1:00 PM. A second table will usually start by 2:00 or 2:30 PM. Those two tables will combine into one when the PLO game starts anywhere between 4:00 and 6:00 PM. How long the combined table goes is rather unpredictable and depends on the day and who is playing. The peak hours are earlier as the holdem game serves as a waiting room of sorts for those either waiting for the PLO game to start or those that are on the wait list for that game.

U cannot have a daily nlh game average 1 table, running for 5 hours only on average. When players travel there they expect games to be in the afternoon. Night. And even after midnight. Cannot be travelling there just for daily action of 5 hours

We play about 8-10 hours of holdem per day, excluding tournament day, and on most days we do get a second table. It's not that the games break fast, but rather that we start early at 1:00 PM on average everyday. The people that have the kind of money that are able to play poker in Cambodia don't exactly have traditional jobs. This is certainly the case for traveling visitors as well and so many fill their days playing poker. The days that visitors do come in or check into the hotel are when the games extend and go longer because you are correct in that most tourists tend to come into the room later. We've had games break at 9:00 PM, midnight, 6:00 AM and on the rare occasion round the clock. It certainly is the case that our games start early, but most of our players adjust figuring that they are worth playing. Most of our players are on a Facebook group chat that I set up so everyone knows exactly when the game starts, how many seats there are and when the games end. The length of our games is comparable to other venues in the area, it just happens to start earlier than most.

Yeah game runs as long as players want to play, that the game breaks so early has a lot to do with the Omaha game which is very popular under the action /fun players at riverking and also with the 1/2 Naga holdem game which starts in the evening.. It's really strange but you can't blame triad/riverking for it,i assume they would be happy if there holdem game would also run until midnight every day ^^

Just on a side note - Red Fox bar on street 136 has regular small tournies/mixed game cash games but has been running an $100 freezeout with a decent structure every Friday, afaik they are getting 10+ players each week so its not a bad option to spend a friday evening, if you like nl tournies i guess

The trend had changed a bit in March as the holdem game holds until about 9:00 or 10:00 PM on average and going later on some nights, having started at 1:00 PM. It's probably a combination of factors; perhaps the two blind structure and/or the fact that Naga has brought on brand new dealers that cannot get out more than fifteen hands an hour to save their lives. In either case on many nights the holdem game outlasts the Omaha game. The majority owner even joked the other day that we're becoming a holdem room. And yes Pronto, midnight would be just fine by meLiving in Cambodia and turning Pro

Naga is about a mile from the Riverking and according to Google maps will take about seven minutes to get to in heavy traffic. Their games start later and end later so yes.

Been hanging out at Renton555's bar on Street 118 a lot lately as his lineup has greatly improved. The only thing is they changed the name from Cool N Cozy to Chocolate Bar; not sure about that one. This is probably the most degen I will ever look in a photo. All I'm missing is the gin and tonic in my hand.
