No?

Are you American? Because pretty much only an American would consider a tip necessary on top of an already negotiated price.

Never heard of anyone tipping or the girls expecting it.

Nah, not American. I'm Australian. But I've spent a bit of time in Thailand and he stand there I thought was a minimum of 100b, so thought expected the same for Cambo. Last time I was there I was just throwing an extra $1 on top unless she was superb. I'm gonna cut that out now though since it doesn't seem to be the norm.

When you say "girls", do you mean massage girls?

Khmer news

The news report got it wrong. It was a Khmer guy. That'll be why they didn't have it down as a suicide

I've been tipping both massage and bar girls. Mind you I've only ever been with massage girls a handful of times

It's standard to tip massage girls because it's a completely different mode of business transaction.

i.e. when you go to a massage parlour you pay a set price (say $5-$10). That money goes to the owner, not the girl servicing you. So tipping her for good service (or extras) is standard.

But when you are talking about bar girls with whom you have already negotiated a price for short/long time, then you have already negotiated a price you are both happy with. No need to tip on top.

It's different in say, the philippines where you pay the barfine directly to the bar. Then it's standard to tip the girl.

You tip employees, not subcontractors or freelancers. A waitress and a massage girl are employees of their business who are charging a fixed cost for a service, so tipping them is normal.

A girl who is negotiating her own service prices is a subcontractor or a freelancer. They will negotiate with you a price you are both happy with. No need to tip on top of that price.

I am fascinated by murders, the way you seem fascinated by vapid sms text messages and poor time keeping.
And partly because people might know them. I'm sure you would mention if a westerner got murdered/ died in your PI town/city.
And partly because I get a laugh at peoples reaction to it.

Why do you keep telling us about your head pain?

im sure i wouldnt mention that because i wouldnt know them and i wouldnt care because people die......

just seems like you are trying to promote how dangerous PP is for no real reason, think everyone in here realizes that living in any third world country has risks

I think everyone realizes all the the sms, communication, and timekeeping issues, that you seem endlessly surprised by after two years, are standard. So standard, that they don't mention them much. It's like saying you saw three people on a motorbike.

Posting foreigner deaths is super standard on expat forums. I don't remember anyone being accused of trying to promote the place as dangerous. I do get a laugh at the over reacting though.

I'm not trying to discourage you from posting the minutiae of your life. Just pointing out you are being a bit hypocritical.

you are free to post whatever you want of course, just kind of odd, especially because you often put smileys and seem happy about them or at least thats the way it comes across

I think I've just adopted the attitude of expats on another forum about it. People laugh at the claims of young men dying of heart attacks, and decapitations as suicide. I'm laughing at the police, not the death of someone.

The only reason I post that is because ******s like ramabranch above continue to try and claim that a country like Cambodia is as safe as England or Sweden or Australia when it's clearly not.

It's irresponsible to try and gloss over the dangers when you are talking to prospective holiday makers. They should be made aware of the risks so they can take appropriate precautions.

Say whatever you want but Im not a ****** and I always treated you with all due respect and I expect the same thing from you.

Wont debate with you as I havent been in Cambo yet, but what I said is not false: living in ANY country has its risks. I was robbed in New Zealand (one of the safest countries in the entire ****ing world) and lived 22 years in Uruguay with 0 problem (3rd world country). Everything is relative.
