I've been there 3 or 4 times for a couple of weeks at a time and my experience is exactly the same as bluegrass players, eating predominantly at river side restaurants.

I am saying that I managed to go to Cambodia, eat well and not **** myself for several weeks. Maybe they are slumming it up, maybe they have weak stomachs, or maybe they are just not at all acclimated to the food like Spiv said. That doesn't really matter to me because whether or not others **** themselves doesn't mean that I'm going to, or did, **** myself.

Once again: my experience is that I went there for several weeks, did not **** myself, and am convinced that anyone who is wary about ****ting themselves can enter and escape the country without ****ting themselves if they put a small amount of effort into it.

Showing that people were not able to do this does not prove my first account experience or opinion wrong.
It was you who made it competitive by claiming I was slumming it, despite knowing nothing about my standards.

You are even exaggerating, as the thread was only two years old, with the last posts two months ago. There's another long running thread on the Snooky forum. It's a regular topic, as everyone gets the ****s in Cambo. You don't really get these threads on Thai forums. It's because it isn't a huge problem in Thailand. Like I said. You are arguing against overwhelming evidence.

I think it's bad advice/ pointless, to say people won't get the ****s when the odds are that they will. I would have thought a poker player could figure out the odds. Much better, imho, to advise them to buy some antibiotics for a couple of dollars, and have them with you. It may save a persons trip.

You mad bruh

Didn't say you were slumming it, I just said I wasn't slumming it.

Didn't say people should not be safe and have antibiotics on hand. I personally always have a week's worth of amoxicillin on hand.

Anyways I was just stating MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. So there it is.

Hats off to you for being able to make it in China. I was there for three months in Wuxi and Shanghai. It was like time had stopped. There were some positives, but overall I found it to be a sad place that I don't really want to hang out in again. Cambo so much more fun .

Landlord, I hear what you are saying. My first year in Latin America and I was in the ****s and sick all the time. After adapting there it was easy when I got to Cambo the first time, but did get really sick from food poisoning the last time I was there. I think some people just get lucky and dont get sick when they travel, but peps like us struggle with it.

I think that's a fairly common experience for people coming to China. When were you there?

October 2013 - early Jan 2014. My overall experience was rough as I felt sick all the time from the smog and I couldnt get over the spitting. Also felt near impossible to makes real connections with locals, but was able to make a few cool Chinese friends.

But the weed was decent, cheap and easy to get

older people have weaker immune systems, not many young long term expats in cambo

Ah ok. I've heard that Shanghai expats are rather cliquish and stuck up. I've only been there for a weekend at at a time so haven't experienced it much. It's pretty hard to make any real connections with the locals, in 5 years I have no longterm male Chinese friends who are not ABC or spent some time abroad.

The smog is my biggest qualm with China, it's awful. I've had several throat infections since coming here, and I had a cat scan a few years ago which showed some scarring in my lung from something. I've never smoked before. I'm also starting to feel laggish doing normal physical activities. It's my biggest reason for wanting to move.

Sorry your experience in China wasn't great.

But even young khmers have issues with food. I've read of several hookers ****ting the bed. Haven't read that about any other country. If you read Jerrys adventures in the Cambo restricted section of Pattaya Addicts, he had one **** the bed recently. He's a PP expat. He took it well. Didn't embarrass the bird. Just gave the cleaner $10 to clean it up. I've heard khmers are used to cleaning up soiled jeans etc. The body gets rid of bacteria fast.

What's a fair price to clean that up?

I gave a cleaner $10 to unblock a toilet full of ****, and clean blood soaked sheets. I think the bird had stuck her tampax down the toilet, and then she bled all over the bed. I expected to get charged for a new sheet when I left the hotel, but wasn't.

Lol the plain thai noodle soup was just 2 min noodles lol i hope there is cheap restaurant around near the hotel so i dont have to eat this hotel food which is really nice but is kinda exepensive, most meals cost $3.5.

The pizza did work a little bit but not as strong as i was hoping. I will try the other pizza shop that has really good reviews that i was originally meant to go to. I have really high tolerance to weed so maybe i would need a few super happy pizzas lol Might try one next week.

ask your hotel if you can do month to month stay, that should get you a cheaper price and then ask if you can use their refrig/kitchen

that will save you a good amount on food

k2d you should start a consulting service for busto expats.

For $2.99 a month you could share all your thrifty knowledge, a win-win for both you and your clients .

It could be a lot of things from the food to the sink water you were brushing your teeth with.

When a fever hits and you start shooting out both ends is when you're in for a fun ride. You will then have some sort of food poisoning.

i've managed restaurants in 3 countries in SE asia now, fwiw I was the guy in the thailand thread several years ago asking if it was possible to move here with 1500$ and a knife and being told I was ******ed... now I'm in hotel management

/all that noise

to the point, you're going to get sick, there are germs your body just isnt ready for, and yes, the hygiene is horrible... people think if its not visible, it doesn't exist. And I've mostly worked in high end western style places. I assume local places are much much worse without a guy like me screaming at people to wash their hands/cutting boards all day.

but the thing to focus on is you really only get sick once (per country in my experience), and then your body adjusts. I've never really heard of expats getting riddled with food poisoning month after month. You will however, if you drink a lot of beer, forget all about ****ting anything solid for your entire stay here.

enjoy, and don't stay in your room the whole time grinding, **** money/poker, those are just means to an end which is to enjoy your life... you're not going to be sitting on your death bed wishing you squeezed in an extra session that one night when you were staying on the opposite side of the world... you're going to regret not having a 3some while snorting yaba in the jungle

ahh the joys of being a veggie and never having food poisining in my life. However i get the flu/tonsilitus every two **** weeks which im sure is down to a lack of immune system because of the lack of protein manly meat

You can get food poisoning from vegetables too, of the E.Coli variety.

http://www.ehow.com/how_8318975_kill...egetables.html

If you had the flu/tonsilitis every few weeks you'd permanently live in a hospital. What you mean is a cold and a sore throat.

lol at not getting food poisoning from veg, if the person prepping your veggie has poop under their finger nails you can still catch diphtheria.
