Does River King 1 allow smoking?

All the places in Cambodia allow smoking to some extent. Usually not directly on the table, but you just have step aside a bit. Cambodia is a smokers paradise (so far)

Iao, are you still living and playing poker in Cambodia? Your original post is dated 2011. I'm considering moving to PP as Snooky seems to have taken a turn for the worst. Would like to correspond with someone living in PP and playing there.

Your best option in terms of game selection, quality and rake is probably Nagaworld in Phnom Penh. They have 3-4 games nightly and it wouldn't surprise me if they became a 24 hour room eventually. That's the unicorn here in Cambodia, to be able to run a room round the clock. I often envisioned it for original Riverking but could never quite do it.

I had drinks with the poker room manager a few nights a go just to catch up. He tells me he has a $1-$3 NLH game, two $2-$5 games and a $5-$10 that goes about 4 times per week.

I'm not familiar but I think the manager will jump on shortly and answer that himself. For sure about hitting the nightlife. Give me a shout when you get in.

Should be min 200 for 1/3, and min 300 for 2/5,for 5/10 its normaly min 500, but sometimes they increase the min to 1k because a lot of the 5/10 players (including fish) hate short/midstakes at the table

PT is it true you are the reason behind the abomination that is 1/3 first being introduced over 1/2 in PP and others just followed suit? Could you confirm? If so I'm not sure we can longer be friends.

Jokes aside, I'm not sure why those blinds bother so much but they do.. what's wrong with good old 1/2?

When I first played at (the old) RK the smallest NL game was actually 2/4, and later PT made it 1/3 IIRC

LOL Sam. I can't speak to Naga's motivation, but I'll tell you exactly why I did it. I absolutely hate 3 blind games; I see it as nothing more than a rake/money grab. So when I became the General Manager of Riverking that is one of the first things I set out to change. So I initially made it $2-$4 from $1-$2-$4 but it was a game that I thought was still too big as we were mostly competing with Naga at that point and their main game was $1-$2. But the owner did not want a $1-$2 hold'em game in his room so we reached a middle ground at $1-$3. Some players really liked it and I think it's what allowed us to push out two tables on most days. But you can't please everyone as Renton absolutely hated it and basically stopped playing in the room as a result. But our hold'em games went longer after the change and as previously stated often had two tables. Between the two I personally prefer $1-$2 as I would rather play $2-$5 than $1-$3, but we all have to make compromises.

Is it 5%? I remember the rake being what's pictured below, the cap being a bit high but the overall percentage being ridiculously low. Perhaps they did just want a simpler system and went to 5%.

Arrived in PP 2 days ago. Staying at Lakeside; it's a fairly pleasant spot to land in, and quite at night.

Met an English fellow who stays at a condo in the area owned by a very high-up police captain. Looks like he'll be leaving the country very soon, so I can probably take his Western-ish style furnished room, for a very good price, with excellent security, and the owner is happy to assist with any visa issues or other matters that crop up which may need fixing. Lucked out here I think.

Any tips for the best value money phone: dual sim, with both sim slots being 4g?

If anyone has a 27inch plus monitor they want to sell, let me know.

Any UFC fans here? The Conor MacGregor vs Khabib UFC fight is on at 9am 7th October (Cambodia time). Score sports bar & grill are showing it, and probably other places too. It's not an ideal time for poker grinders obviously, but I'll probably be going, so if anyone's interested in hanging let me know.

$180 for the 3gb RAM version. One of the best purchases I made. Huge screen and battery and everything else good for the price. It's sold here:

I personally prefer Cellcard as their Big Love monthly plan is $8 for 80gb of data. By comparison, Smart's Power Plus 8 plan costs the same but is 40gb of data. But a lot of people in Cambodia are on Smart which means it'll cost you to make cross network calls if you're on Cellcard. Just be sure to walk into a proper Smart or Cellcard store once you're in the city to get your plan. If you get the SIM at the airport they're almost sure to stick you with a traveler's card which cannot activate any of these plans.

IIRC it was 5% and they also charged the small amounts between 10 and 20 (like 18 and 19 and such) but I'm not 100% sure, it has been a few months and I played in a lot of casinos in between, maybe I'm mixing it up.

As for the riverking, again IIRC I think they started with 5% and capped between 15 and 30 depending on game/limit, but I'm not certain of that, also could not be up to date. In any case you could just send them a PM on FB to inquire. No idea about pokerace
