Guys just been reading up on apartments for rent in PP. 2 routes I can take either an agent or a tuk tuk driver to drive you around. So my question is does anybody know of a good tuk tuk driver, form what I hear these guys get a finders fee if they find you a place to stay.

Next up: So just driving in the a neighborhood I like, I should see lots of for rent signs, will those buildings have a front desk with staff at hand so I can view and discuss a price for rent? From what I gather that's exactly how it is, but would like some more clarification from somebody living there.

Will probably go with an agent for convenience but would like to hear if somebody did the tuk tuk thing.

You can get PT to make the arrangements.

He's paying $150/month for rent. Sick!

Agent is definetly the way to go, call/email them - give them price range/preferred location/requirements and they'll take you to loads. I went to 5-6 before I found one I liked - I'd recommend sunnyresidentrealty.com, although it seems to be down atm.

They found me this place - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...ostcount=10946

I got the rent down to $280+bills p/m, but the electricity is a bit more expensive than my old place so be sure to check the small print, there was also a hidden $24 bill p/m I wasn't told about which covers moto parking/security/elevators/cleaning etc. But all in all still good value IMO.

Yeah that's pretty decent for $300. I didn't realise they'd offer so many apartments, I'm on Samui right now and estate agents/apartments are slim pickings here, unless you are willing to spend a fortune.

Yeah I got his realtor info, just trying to cover for backup really. I guess that's not really necessary though, looks like I'll have plenty of choices in PP. Is it a renters market over there?

1-3 NLHE. One of the players in MP put out a blind bet of $20 before the cards were dealt. One of the players in EP looked at his hole cards and went all in pre-flop.

From a technical perspective, this $20 blind bet is void since the all-in bet from EP changes action. Had the player just called/min-raised, the $20 blind bet would stand. Other players defended the all-in player, stating that he did what he did because of the blind bet of $20. And it should stand. (No, it shouldn't)

The floor manager ruled in favour of the all-in player, stating that the $20 blind bet is binding. The blind bet player folded and the all-in player was awarded the pot.

The floor manager then tossed four $5 red chips (from his own roll) towards the blind bet player. He said that he didn't want to upset the rest of the table over $20.

He made a wrong ruling but then did the right thing to preserve the goodwill of the players.

If you think working as a floor person is easy, sit around on the couch and surf facebook, you are so so wrong. Live poker games would be in total chaos without a good floor person.
hmmm.... i might be wrong here. But I'm pretty sure that $20 blind out of turn bet is binding. Otherwise everyone can just blind bet $20 out of turn all the time just to angle shoot and then say "I am taking it back now that you've raised"

Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I really want to know.

Don't be fooled, a lot of them are pretty ugly - if you're willing to pay $400-500 then you'll have no issues finding a decent one but for $200-300... not so much.

I think it will be different in a few years, there are huge apartment buildings being built all over so competition should force the prices down because atm the value is horrible.

In most rooms in Vegas, out of turn bets are only binding if the action before them changes. If someone changes the action by raising, then the out of turn action comes back and the player is allowed to make a new decision. This is not to say that if a player keeps doing this he won't be warned about it.

you just need to limp to make the blind raise oot binding, then you can 3bet after action goes again to you,so as long as everyone is aware of the rules there is no room for angle shooting with this kind of raises..

PT is correct. On technical grounds.

In this case, the floor manager made a ruling based on the morals/spirits of the game. It preserves the goodwill of all players involved.

Refer to my previous post where the floor made a ruling in my favour based on morals/spirits of the game. Had the floor ruled against me, they would have lost a customer.

That's odd, I've seen a ton of decent places online for $250-$350, all clean, modernish with kitchen and a lot of them with living room too.

I stay in a $6 dorm ($5.50 after 10% discount). I absolutely love the place.

Safe and secure. I leave my laptop and phone in the lounge for charging. Have not been stolen the past 3 weeks. Although I have to share the room/bathroom, I usually have the place to myself since it's low season now.

Wait, there's more.

5 minutes walk to RK. $0.50 if I am lazy and choose to take moto-bike.

Think about it.

They often keep pictures up of the best looking apartments even if they're occupied, that or the photos seriously flatter them... you'll see anyway you might be lucky. Just talking from experience.

My biggest gripe is most of the $200-300 apartments are filled with tacky wooden Khmer/Chinese? style furniture... it looks horrible and isn't that comfortable either.

You're here for a few weeks at a time, Do you really think a student/backpacker dorm is suitable for someone looking to settle here? WM - how come you've never chosen to take up the RK room deal?

I see what you're saying, bit of false advertising. I can do with the wooden furniture, I have seen a bunch of places that have them, for me though it's the bed that has to be comfortable. The place i'm staying at right now has a very hard bed, not sure how people are suppose to sleep on em tbh.

I might end up paying a little more from what I can see $400 get me a super modern 1 bedroom with pool and gym.

Yup that's right. The hotel is $20 a night but if you play 3 hours a day at the poker room you get it for $10. I think the game goes almost round the clock with a break from 6 in the morning then starts again in the afternoon. Poker Triad will be able to give you precise details though.

Anybody know of a motor bike rental that does not need passport, just a copy of passport?

You reckon I need a bike over there? I'm planning to relocate in Doun Penh area, close to RiverKing. How far is the main nightlife from there?

Not far at all, a two minute drive.

As for a moto it depends if you are ok with bartering with tuk tuk's/motodops every time you go somewhere & also Phnom Penh is a horrible city for walking in, if you're not almost getting run over due to lack of footpaths then you are getting bothered by someone, not to mention the heat. I would personally get one but it's not an absolute must.

Not positive but I'd say wth 95% certainty a copy of your passport will be no good.

Cheers Sam, how is it for driving a scooter? Is traffic ok will mostly just be driving short trips anyway. I am driving daily here on Samui and it's fine, it took me little getting used to the traffic but it's not crazy insane like I thought it was going to be. Could just be less traffic overall of course but even with the Thai's driving a little reckless, I still do ok.

You are asking a rhetorical question. Of course, an apartment will be more suitable for someone looking to settle here.

RK offers a discounted rate of $10/night for single rooms. I choose not to stay there because I dislike the idea of living/working in the same building. I don't know if you get me.

Moreover, my hostel offers everything that I need. I can talk to people, chill out in the lounge, buy bus tickets, renew visas etc. And the staff knows me by name, knows what I want for breakfast, knows the kind of fruit jucies I like to order. Getting all that for $5.50 a night is a no brainer.

There's a FB chat group for RK players. PT will regularly update status of the games.

Motobike - $2. You can push it down to $1. $1.50 is the middle ground.
Tuk Tuk - $3. You can push it down to $1.50. $2 is the middle ground.

It's not considered a short drive.
