Internet connection on flights

I've started to notice many more internet equipped planes. I have yet to use it. Are the connections generally pretty good? Good enough to trust on all these no DP poker sites now? I was going to buy a smaller laptop so I could play on the plane, but if the connection isn't reliable enough, I don't need to waste the money.

1) The internet on Virgin America was really, really good
2) Playing while totally doped up on valium plus alcohol because of a fear of flying is a really bad idea

I did a 1 and a half hr flight in the US and it was only $10 bucks and like $50 for a months access which is nothing really.... Was pretty good quality could do everything, including play (4 tables of rush poker at that) the only thing is I couldn't video skye when I wanted to show how balla I was chatting from 30,000 feet

I used the gogo thing on a 2hr flight in November and was able to 1 table on FTP playing heads up cash
