I am going to get a triple entry visa in sweden, you think i am going to have any problems getting a 90 day tourist visa in penang after those first 9 months have ended?

The reason I am asking is because my passport is filled with visa stamps for Thailand, no stamp from Penang tho. Just stamps from Kambodja and Laos so far.

get a new passport first before you leave?

i havent read anything good about penang. they also dont like when you extend your tourist visa for some unimaginable reason...

you might have better luck with KL, phnom penh or even vientiane.

how many tourist visa stickers do you have in your passport?

The reason I am asking is because it is very close if I will have time to get me a new passport and I would rather not take the risk of getting a new one if i dont must. My choices are between getting a new passport or getting a triple entry visa here in Sweden.

I just read the passport papers and find out that i had forgotten that I had a 1 year non immigrant working visa 2008, besides that I have a double entry from Laos, and several 30 days border crossing visas in Malaysia and Kambodia. Some of those was just to extend my non immigrant working visa.

In short, my passport from 2008 is filled with thai stamps, but only two from embassys. One from UK and one from Vientienne, the rest is just 30 days border crossings.

Edit: I got 3 stickers from Kambodia for 30 days visa. I dont know how they count those?

well i would get the triple and go from there

the visa policies might change after your 9 months here especially if they decide to stop the free tourist visa bs for good (the current period for that will end in march). the embassies might be more willing to issue visas again when they get some money for them..

if you have a lease you could also ship your passport to hull (if you have time, take about a week) and get the non-immigrant type O visa

THIS

Just a few days ago, there was reports from Vientiane, where they denied tourist visa, with one simple rule "3 visa stickers, no visa".
Many people have also reported about continoues (sp??) problems in Penang, although I have went there several times, and it always worked out.

I would definitely try to get a new passport first. If you dont have time for that, get the triple entry from Sweden, and have a new passport made in Thailand from the Swedish embassy/consul. Just make sure to make a photocopy of all the important stuff (picture page, visa stamp/sticker, entry slip etc) and then accidentally get it mixed up in the laundry.....

I wonder how they count 30 days visa stickers and NON immigrant visa stickers? Are they as bad to have like 90 days tourist visas?

The reason I am asking is because I only have one 90 day visa, a double entry from Laos.

edit: I just found out that I can renew my passport at the swedish embassy in Bangkok. Great!

If you can get a triple entry from sweden, you have alot of time to find a solution and at worse you can get a new passport in you last 3 months.

I am going to stay longer than 3 months and did not know that I can renew my passport in BKK.

If I had not been able to do that, I could have had some problems when applying for a new visa after my triple entry visa had been used.

Hey guys, I'm probably moving to thailand in a couple of months with my gf. Problem is we dont really know where in Thailand we wanna live. We think we would prefer a tourist area in southern thailand and my main concern is the internet connection. I want a connection as stable and fast as possible as long as it dont cost, say over $300/month. I obviously want a backup connection as well. Any suggestions? Is Bangkok my only choice here?

Edit: oh yeah apartment desires would be at least 55sqm and ~$1100/month rent

well i am in phuket so you can get the same internet here. though note that if the house/place you are leasing doesnt have this ISP already it will be very difficult to get it for only 2 months

Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai (where the majority of 2+2ers live) are all very different places. it just depends on what you are after to know which place is best for you

Like I mentioned earlier, a place with many tourists and as little prostitution as possible. We are planning to stay there for at least 6months. How do I know in advance if the place I'm leasing already has that ISP? Long shot, but someone wouldnt happen to know a housing site where every renting option has 3bb?

well prostitutes are where the tourists are ?

why do you want a lot of tourists?

you can obviously ask the agent/landlord what ISP is in the place you are getting

As little prostitutes as possible, why are you coming to Thailand? Everyone comes here to enjoy the abundance of cheap third world labour.
