One thing you should know/expect is that for shorterm (anything less than 6mos) you will pay closer to the higher end of the range. Also, for just a 3mo stay most owners are going to expect all 3mos + 1mo security deposit up front. Bear that in mind when you come. You and friends should bring a reasonable amount of cash otherwise you might get stuck doing daily "max out" ATM trips trying to hoard the move in cash.

Has anyone set up a bank account in Thailand, and then wired money from your poker account to it? Or used a service like click2pay to transfer money to a Thai bank account for use at a local ATM? about picking up "real girls". You have to go to places where you would find "real girls". I would recommend learning a bit of thai also. I found just being able to introduce myself, ask how she is, if she wants a drink etc helps a lot. makes it look like your not some random drunk farang after sex. also go to the more expensive clubs. in phuket i think lime and sound dont let working girls in.

Deffo buy laptop from home. You can get decent ones here but the prices aren't ASIA electronics cheap at all. Also, the selectio is bound to better in major western cities.

So, the reccomendation is, fix yourself up with a quality laptop, and when you get here just buy a decent monitor (22"-26" available from 6KTHB-15KTHB) for making the grind better.

Best bank, esp here in Phuket is Kasikorn (the green bank). All you need is a Passport to open an acct. I haven't heard of any of its branches being a problem.

Offcouse it is POSSIBLE to pick up a "real girl" as you call it. If you live in Thailand, speak thai and get a social network including unindependent girls with well paid jobs or rich parents you may meet a girl that do not expect something in return if she goes with you.

But to go out on clubs etc and getting one night stands with a thai girl and then think that she is just horny on your looks, personality or "falang dance moves" as someone recomended. Just forget it.
