Anutin may have been quiet for weeks, but unfortunately still managed to get his message through to some.

This morning they announced in the loudspeakers (Kamala, Phuket), that everything would be shut down for 14 days, starting 13th. Unsure whether that includes shopping for food, and dont see anything in the news.

The real face of Thai people is so ugly when it shows up. Zero decency, zero common sense. I was living partly in denial back then in Northern Thailand and thinking how friendly and great those people were tbh - some people are decent everywhere and some are not... everywhere as well

You say this shows that the real face of Thai people is so ugly and then say there are good and bad people everywhere. There are small groups of people in every country that absolutely hate foreigners. In your country now there are probably Facebook groups hating on all Asian people because of this virus.

+1. There are morons everywhere. You should see some of the racist morons in the UK even in times of relative calm

It's their country, not ours. Show some respect and wear a ****ing face mask. I understand their anger. They see it as us disrespecting them.

Interested in when Thailand is going to open businesses, etc again? Other countries have decent data in to know when the problem is contained, for example Italy peaked at 6500 cases in one day, its now flattened to 4k cases per day, it would make sense when numbers fall to say <500/day can slowly start to put things in order again.

According to the data Thai has had a total of 27 deaths, with <100 cases a day, are they just going to shut down the country until this is no longer a world problem?
Can we get an update from the diseased farang epicenter?
How serious are they enforcing no alcohol? Can you go for a walk? Etc....

Curfew still 8pm-3, all beaches closed, restaurants only doing take away, for the first time I seen large queues at the place where they give out free food. Today was also the first day I didnt see many Thais just hanging around also, was completely deserted. Airport closes 14th afaik, cant go from town to town without good reason. 20k baht fine for no mask. They have given anyone whos visa is gona expire automatic renewal with no overstay charge until April 30th, which I assume is to combat large queues at immigration. Not sure how that compares with rest of country.

Booze ban was only implemented at around 8pm last night, so not sure how serious it is, but judging by everything else its probably gona be strict.

With the length of queue times/general demeanour around town, I would imagine there is alot of Thais close to breaking point. With things only going to get worse in terms of their income(at the start there was ofc still tons of tourists here, but by now a large % of them have managed to get home, with 0 coming in.) and the government are using this time to impose their totalitarian grip further with ideas like 24 hour curfew/alcohol ban over Songkran, I would imagine we are getting closer by the day to civil unrest.

Thanks for the Phuket report.
All quiet in the Bangkok suburbs. Haven't checked yet if the normal mom and pop shop that sells after hours in my village is still selling alcohol as normal. May do a drive-by.

Quick update on booze, typically family mart here sells 24 hours, only 7 adheres to the time laws, but both not offering booze and appear to be even clearing the fridges of anything, instead of the usual coverup. Mom and pop shops refusing to sell(even to a Thai). After a couple of phonecalls a girl managed to get me sorted, price was a slight premium(although could have been girl scamming me) worked out about 70bht a big leo. No idea of the source, although if i had to hazard a guess its from the guys who usually deliver the cases to the bars.

I just went and bought from my normal mom and pop shop. Not even the after hour one which is a premium 60bt per Leo big boy.
Sold no problem but the freezer was unusually vacant with only about 20 bottles and also some cans in there, no other brand.
Maybe selling until gone to regular customers?

Additional beer reports needed!

A young, fit monger like yourself can have the pick of the litter for Vietnam war era prices. Too bad you missed entry but we salute you.
Those Walmart and McDonald's jobs you're doing are truly essential.
I thank you on behalf of all Americans!

Whats the curfew times? If it's 10pm till 6 am or so, that's still not really helpful imo.

As long as bars and restos are closed you pretty much accomplish the same without a curfew.

The curfew closed down all the live games so I'm sure there are lots of other behind closed doors gatherings that it has stopped and hence stopped some additional spreading.
