romeo, are you talking about girls who work in 7-eleven or tourists?

if you want regular thai girls go to bangkok or chiang mai, preferably bangkok.

if you want hookers than bangkok/pattaya/phuket, preferably bangkok and pattaya depending on personal preferences. personally i prefer bangkok (despite the greater expense in general) because there's better dining options, cheap cabs, more concentrated scene, gogo girls are hotter (was definitely true 5 years ago), more daytime activities.

thanks
If you bought the phone through a service provider call them and they will unlock it. That's what I did with sprint before I left usa.
If you have a prepaid phone you can go online and search like hell to figure out a way to unlock it.
3 years ago I had a phone I bought at walmart to use for prepaid tmobile and i never could figure out how to get it unlocked and ended up just buying a new phone here that became know as my "thai phone"

Hey guys. I have a couple of questions:

1. Koh Samui vs. Chiang Mai?
2. Is it easy to get a place in Koh Samui?
3. How do deposits/withdraws work?
4. I read that poker is illegal in thailand. Is this ever a problem?

Why Bangkok over CM or Koh Samui?

Koh samui = wankers coming there to get drunk 24/7 being loud and annoying, with annoying locals doing their best to extract as much cash as they can

CM = boring city, with vegan wankers trying to find themself, dressing like hobos, they never take showers. Nicer locals tho

Bangkok = some normal people, still a lot of wankers

This has to be the funniest thing I've read in the thread. Mostly for its honesty.

I've only been to Thailand once and spent the majority of my stay in Pattaya. Pattaya isn't too far from BKK so you can always go there for a week/long weekend.

If I were moving to Thailand, I would definitely go month to month and live light. I'd probably move around to 3-4 places over the course of a year and figure out which area suited my lifestyle best. I didn't love BKK but to be fair, I didn't experience much of it. I never made it to Khao San road, Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy etc...

Any prerequisites regarding VISA?

Im flying from Germany in a week and haven't really sorted that stuff out. I thought you could just stay 30 days, prolong it for 30 more days, and then sort out a longer stay. Is that true?

Also are the initial 30 days completely granted or do I have to have a ticket showing I will be leaving?

You need a ticket, most of the time they don't check. Better safe than sorry, rent one using flyonward.com.

Everything else, yes you are right

Try to get the multiple entry tourist visa in Germany just to save yourself the headache and give you more flexibility once you are here.

The airline can stop you from boarding if you don't have return flight or onward travel proof. Round trip tik always works for me even if I'm going on the VOA but not returning for 90 days.
My last flight here I actually saw a guy refused boarding because he only had 1 way tik to phillipines. ANA airways.
Basically you get your VOA and 2 land crossings to re-up. Plus the 30 day extension at immigration office. That's 4 months, I never stayed longer than 90 days.
Best way to play the long term game is with a bogus bought education visa I believe.
There are people on here that can lead you in that direction.

Already headaching a bit.

If I enter in thailand through the VOA (because we are planning to visit malaysia anyway), and we return from malaysia, will the 30 days be renewed?

Philippines is different though, they ask like 99.9% and will refuse boarding if you don't have one, have huge signs at every checkin desk...

Thailand ask like 1% and often still let you board without one, when you explain you don't need a visa for thailand because they offer visa waiver, and sign a form saying you'll take responsibility in the event you can't enter

I've never been asked, flown into thailand dozens of times from EU and elsewhere in SEA. It tends to be certain US airlines, and I hear KoreaAir asks too. If you're American that 1% goes up a bit but it's still not a big deal

Anyway just arrive at the airport checkin with plenty of time to spare and book a quick airasia ticket on your phone if you get asked and you can't blag it / sign some form
