Yeah true. But even make a decent living at poker isn't going to last and if you have no marketable skills it wont be easy in years to come unless managed to save a healthy amount plus have a good business head.

The skills that make you a good poker player are very marketable. Many players are headhunted by insurance/risk assessment companies.

The real issue for us poker players is that going back to 9-5 after years of being your own boss would be very difficult.

well, lol69 is an idiot, everyone agrees. but if someone is really making 10k per month in 2015 while playing only 60 hours, it's a wise suggestion to play a little bit more and save up some money. of course, everyone decides that for himself and depending on the game, 60 hours is more than it seems (eg if you're a HU grinder and wait 10 hours in the lobby every day and only get 2-3hours of action in the end or if you study a ton on top of it and really only always play if you can bring your A+ game and so on).
but most poker players probably look back at their past and regret to not grind / save some more, back when the games were "easy"...

I'm sure if you ask lol69 his job he'll tell you hes making 200k a year while working 25 hours a week. He also says he gets to take 6 trips to SEA a year so he gets alot of vacation. Obv hes the rare guy from Canada who is highly paid but gets tons of vacation time to travel the world while having a surplus of free time to hate on the underpaid poker players(lol69 hates) in the poker forum travel thread.

Last thing i enjoy is arguing w someone on the forums, but i rly dont get whats wrong with lol69.
Why every single post is full of so much negativity/hatred and predicting chaos etc.

I personally know a couple of people who now work in actuarial/insurance industry after a decade or so of poker. Game theory isn't just for games.

Being good at mathematics is a valuable skill. Industries like actuarial science are a bit like IT. Ability is more important than experience or personality. A pool of potential people who might have underutilised maths skills is attractive to recruiters in those industries.

Who wants to be employed by someone else anyway... that's the only time a CV gap matters. Usually a young poker player travelling the world is the type to want to set up some kind of business for themselves... who'd have thought it?

Most people I know did that. For example sandviper23 on 2+2, ex poker player, used to post ITT. Guy from the 'broke in thailand' youtube video he made, was actually a semi-troll but people like pokerspiv didn't get the joke and even wrote a blog post about him calling him a scammer (yet rehabbing fish writing a post about people on forums is a weird thing to do apparently).

He ended up making 7 figures in adsense revenue with clickbait wildlife videos on youtube like 'lion vs elephant fight' lol
