people with above average intelligence and a lot of charisma have always made more of an impact than your average genius

the lot of charisma point makes a whole lot of sense, for forward and backwards. More of an impact doesn't mean more of an improvement. There's lots of nutters out there with a great deal of charisma. But yeah, as general intelligence increases progress increases - I'm on board with that. I would think though that very intelligent people have a large effect on the Flynn effect.

I don't think people are getting smarter, just better educated. Look at Thailand, I don't think Thai people are less intelligent than western people but their education system and some general logic seems like 30 years behind. Some people can't point out their own country on a map or think Africa is a country or think Hitler was the 1st American idol winner.
Is that low iq or just uneducated? So you can imagine the general population of anywhere 100 years ago.

I dont know but when I'm on the roads with Thai people I feel like there low IQ. Even guys who drive for a living have no idea how to drive right. My gf who I've given massive pro driving tips drives like a complete noob on the road. I know they dont have propers drivers ed here but I feel like driving is a skill anyone can learn to do right with experience and this country you dont see that.

My driver to Pattaya drives the whole way there as fast possible riding somebodys azz the entire time. Its like he cant understand that when the guy in front of him has to brake because somebody is gonna cut somebody off soon(always happens) hes gonna rear end the car and die. No surprise theres so many accidents here.

One thing that I hate about Thai drivers is that they never nudge over to the left side of the lane before making a left hand turn (also what's up with taking like 1/2 a km to change lanes? Get in your new lane already)
Anyways a girl at my work took her driving test and got points deducted and claimed the instructor giving the test said it was the most common problem. When she made a left hand turn she crossed the line a little bit into the oncoming lane of the new street she was turning into (confirmed happens about 85% of the time).
She swears her driving teacher told her to wait until about the nose of her car is perpendicular to the dividing line of the street she is turning left on before starting your left hand turn. Wtf? This girl is smart and I think could excel in an office environment in any country so I'm just going to go with the girls suck at driving stereotype over Thais have low iq's but that the teacher taught her that blows me away. Makes me wonder about a lot of what is taught here.
Another thing is language. Thai is a damn ancient language. I'm sure we've all seen Thais have a 5min conversation explaining something and in the end there was miscommunication and it ends up they didn't understand each other. Maybe their language handicaps learning a bit?
