I'm living with another grinder next to on nut station and I think it's pretty good. Granted I don't know that much about BKK yet since we moved here two weeks ago but we have a pretty nice two bedroom appartment in a fairly luxurious building and not paying that much from what I can tell for a 3 month contract. Tesco next to us, station next to us and plenty of cheap thai food nearby. Takes us like 20 min to get to nana so unless you want to go degen mode everyday it's a nice place imo.

what's the best way to withdraw money in thailand? coming from UK with like £1000 spending money for a month, do i just withdraw it with a barclaycard or is there another way?

On my way back to bkk to get a new 12 month contract but don't really want to live along Suk this time and want to try something new. I am after a bit more thai feel neighborhood without going completely ghetto. Something with a decent selection of 25-30k 1br condos and nice vibrant feel to it.
If you can't live along Suk where would you live in bkk and why?

huai khwang? has soapies, massages, hostess bars, large night market where gogo girls go to buy their nurse uniforms, rooftop bar over a good coffee place, street restaurant with issan stuff like dancing shrimps (that you eat alive) open til 6am, happy suki 200b buffet open 24hrs, close to RCA / hollywood

condos - rhythm ratchada, life@ratchada, right next to MRT

+1 to Huai kwang. stayed at life condo for a year and really good location for reasons jspill says. close to ratchada soi 4 which has a load of bars and also close to a load of thai student bars that farrang don't go but loads of cute students i remember. Cineplex esplanade, robinson walking distance of 1 MRT stop away.

The night market next to life condo is my fav one i have been to in bkk. And ye loads of talent walking around there.

thailand has ATMs everywhere just like other countries, with English options and accepting foreign cards.

but for foreign cards they have a 180 baht fee each time, so do a cost benefit analysis on doing small cashouts and paying lots in fees, versus cashing out large amounts (max 20k-30k) and carrying that around / hotel safe. or converting some before you arrive / at a superrich branch

Stars cash games and HUsngs are just the nut low. You say getting leases/utility bills are a slight hassle. Im planning traveling to CM or BKK for a few months and need address proof in english asap for eurosites like willhill, bet365 etc. Whats my move? Thx in advance.

tbh i don't plan to do much and i have airbnb apartments for a month paid for, so 20,000 would probably cover it right? (few hookers, food, etc)

smaller sites tend to easily accept whatever you send in, a photocopy of a handwritten lease agreement in a mix of english and thai was enough for party, didn't ask for a translation

stars are stricter, they wanted something with an official letterhead addressed to me, i sent a true wifi bill

then they wanted the address part translated by an official source with a letterhead, faked that

depends on the site - get something sent to you in the post asap / photoshop if they are as strict as stars

when i say slight hassle i mean also how thai banks don't issue printed statements with addresses on - see here

jspill, tyvm for your posts as always. I am primarily a sportsbettor, and with years of experience playing against the house is that they will close your account/confiscate funds whenever they get a chance so faking adresses is too big a risk. I'll try to get a lease agreement on print.

No worries. Only big risk in thailand is aquire "fake" visa, apart from tis u r pretty much free to do whatever pleases u

it's not a fake address it's a fake receipt from a translation company, says the same thing as if i actually got it translated. just translated the address part of the utility bill (not fake) myself to save time using a company. but use this one if you want

Oops bad wording of me. I get your point though. 2nd hassle are the payment processors but Neteller should be good most of the time? If it doesnt work out I'll just jump on a plane to cambo/vietnam.

Ari
Nice upper middle class neighborhood with a bts, villa, lots of food options and not sleazy like ratchada. Maybe getting a little too trendy these days but take the bts there and have a walk around.

Anyone else having issues with their Kasikorn debit card. I cannot get it to work on Neteller or Entropay. I used it on Entropay a couple weeks ago with no problems, but now it just auto declines without even giving me the option to get the OTP on both sites. I have called the bank a few times and went into branch, but they tell me the card is fine. Anyone have any ideas on what I could try?
Thanks
