So I was in thailand for like 10 days in October and want to come back.

Last time I hit Bangkok, Koh Samui (just passed through), Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and Chiang Mai.

I basically want to come back for like a month to just do some relaxing, some partying and get lots of online poker in. Would prefer to be on a beach so I was sorta thinking Koh Samui would be a good spot? (all I really saw last time was the airport and ferry dock) I wouldn't mind spending like a week doing scuba certification in Koh Tao but I think it's a little too small for a whole month.

Are there other options I should be considering on the west side? Phuket or some of those islands?

Budget is not a major issue, top priorities would be consistent/stable internet, good restaurants/nightlife, good beach, scuba and other water activities.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

come on, you're the biggest hater in the 2p2 community, blanking newbies at football / in clubs who try to say hi, gossiping about people, calling people busto when you yourself only bumhunt low stakes and need to take out loans to fly back home. could list more. just generally being obnoxious. if you want to discuss this further in person we can, i'm told you just back down / put head down when anyone tries that tho'

I just spent the last couple of hours digging through this read. Wow. Shaking my head. You guys are hilarious.

I arrived in Thailand about a week now. Swimmer's stories have been awesome and helpful. I've had my own adventures and run-ins with Thai whores, local girls, and mafia over the past week. It's all been good, and I'm having the time of my life, but blowing cash like crazy!

I'm in Chiang Mai now and thinking about staying here to grind. Weather is nice and accommodations are cheap enough. I'm staying at a guesthouse for 200b/night. If I'm going to get a lease, I'd like for it to be less than 6000b/month.

After reading Swimmer's stories, I'm really tempted to head to Lamai. Will I be able to get a place with free Wifi (backup internet) and hot water for <6000 with furnishings?

I want to be at the beach, but I've got a tight budget. I'm willing to grind in Chiang Mai until I can afford it. What do you guys think?

Yes, but probably not in the centre of town for that price. There is a lot of cheap accommodation in the 5000-6000 baht per month range in the outer areas of Lamai, but you will need a scooter to get around unless you want to walk 1-2km to restaurants/bars etc.

You can rent a scooter for ~2500 per month, or buy an old one for 10-12k baht.

Just come to Phuket, it offers everything you need, the only downside is price, which you dont mind.

you could kill a month in koh tao, if you are grinding. the internet is good. if you go out more than 2x per week it will get old, but its a fun scene

then again, if you go out 2x per week in samui, the thai girls will remember you, but you wont remember them, but there will be new tourist girls on the scene which may or may not remember you.

so i bid farewell to friends and family, send my 2+2 login to pooter, all passwords and bank account info to PE and 2 cents on stars to acer9.

meet snuff girl in a public place, middle of a mall. turn up on time forgetting girls are 30+ mins late. finally gets there, turns out to be really nice and sane. refreshing to meet a thai girl who's so confident in herself, but not a hooker (wrong again acer, didn't ask for money). especially a 19 year old

head back to mine after ice cream, as she's leaning over blowing me i'm a bit perturbed to see a pentagram and gallows

Spoiler:

(knows french, confirmed hiso)

not much to say really, seems to just be really open minded beyond her years. spiv and VV called it on the death porn, they are just used to sharing it on facebook etc.

some early fireworks out my window during round 1

this tattoo was a bit weird

Spoiler:

(amy winehouse). didn't want to risk offence by asking if all these tats are permanent, but i think so

went to dinner after round 1, salmon salad (paleo) at postcard on phahon yothin road, ok little place, retro decor

oh and PE called it on choking, she said she likes that, and putting fingers up my backside, luckily i had lube. acquiesced to both for round 2

bonus shot

I might be being cheap and not smart, but I think I'll have to pass on the scooter for now. I've been blowing a ton on drinks, so what's an extra 2500b? Not much -- hmmmmm. This line of thinking leads to broke people!

I'm really tempted to give Lamai a go.

Girls are always interesting, but I'm not too interested at the moment. I really want to focus to see if I can make this poker dream happen. I hung out at Warm Up in Chiang Mai last night. It's refreshing to not have to fend off hordes of whores! It's even more refreshing to actually have to put effort into talking to girls! So maybe Koh Tao is the place for me.

Does the 5-6k in Lamai or Koh Tao include hot water and electricity? As far as a final choice, if you were 27, had $2000 left in the bank for poker and living, blown $800 in 8 days in Thailand, enjoy normal Thai girls (non-working), want to work out, and budget is a concern, where would you stay? And would you get that scooter?
