I have been in Thailand twice so far and I met a couple of guys within the BKK and CM comunity. Unfortunately I am not only a poker player but also a student and since I have only ~ 1 more year left I decided to go back to europe to finish my education.

The weather here currently sucks and I am probably gonna freeze to death some time soon.

What I wanted to ask is: Do you guys know any University where I can do a master in social sciences(i.e political science, social anthropology or sociology) where language is english? I know that thai universities are not good compared to western standards and that they are expensive as well but I am still temted to move to thailand. I already did some research but I was unable to find anything since most thai universities have horrible websites.

Would appreciate any info I can get..

Can't say yet. I did check out the Tony's near Buhkhao street and it was pretty beater with no A/C. Was my second day in town, felt like my brains were boiling, literally, and the though of working out in there made me want to immediately suicide. Saw some sicko buff Aussie dude in there cranking bench press in the sauna heat and felt pure respect for the guy.

I'll be looking for a gym with a/c though personally. So far though haven't had time. Still have a horrible cough and congested sinus and just got unpacked yesterday in my new 7500b/m apt. Still been 4 nights since I landed and balls glowing neon blue obviously. Doesn't help that these Thai girls are hot as fak and eyeing me like I upgraded to Brad Pit hotness soon as I stepped off the plane. Yes, she showed me on a calculator. Also only 1 month deposit required. For 6 month contract she showed 24700 for first month + deposit, you don't really save much. I was going to book it before I started talking to this guy and he told me there is a utility bill racket going on. So looks like it would really be 15-17k with water/electricity.

What was the racket? That they charge 7b per unit? As long as you know the price up-front and they show you the meter as you check in it should be fine.

I guess they can. It is more likely that that just over charged on the actual amount of units he used. I just paid a month for KTK and they showed me the meter, wrote it on my contract and me and the girl both signed our names underneath it, same with the water.

Good idea for anyone would be making sure you see the meter as you move in, maybe even take a pic of it for future proof.

I was certain KTK was booked up, still haven't checked it out. When are you going to check out Tony's big gym?

I used Dtac/Happy and it was nice and stable. The speed wasn't good though. Relatively stable around 0.7mbit. Happy is pretty nice because you just load up your phone with cash, then use all the 3g you want for 49baht/day.

EDIT: Definitely check out KTK, their 1 bedroom rooms are very good value tbh.

Icon place is legit. It is expensive at 7 baht a unit but they dont add units / play with the meter or anything. The owner / staff are really good.

I remember reading a story on the internet a while ago, it was on a forum but not sure if it was this one. The guy was renting a little studio apartment, and his first month electricity bill was insanely high (>15k IIRC). He had written down the meters numbers before and after, and the numbers where correct to what the owner was charging him, and the price per unit was fair.

Shortly after the foreigner got an electrician to check out the wiring without the owner knowing and apparently the meter WAS rigged to meter his room, but also the owners downstairs shop.... lol

What is the day schedule of 6max cash players in Thailand? In what time do you wake up/play/having rest/etc. I know that peak hours on stars take place at pretty inconvinient time in thailand, like 3 a.m to 8 a.m., and that means that you have to wake up in the evening and go to bed in the morning or close to noon. Which sucks, because you won't even see a daylight and won't have time for other activities except poker. But may be you have found some good ways to handle it... So how do you live there?

I play revolution and get mine done in the morning. So if you play Stars which I dont you seem to know the answer if not you are going to have to say where you play for an acurate answer I would think.

Just set up Dtac/Happy at Tuk Com (thanks). Tethered to my iphone now. 695 baht for unlimited connection all month and 3gb dl. Feels good to be solidly online again. Checked out Tony's gym too (the Fitness Center + Sports World), def. getting membership there. (6 months 5k). Pretty nice gym, I've obviously seen better in Canada, but I can do very well here. Has all the equipment anybody would need and it all looks to be in good condition. Cold should be crushed in a day or two (buying those 20 baht fresh squeezed mandarin juices every other block walking around today). Time to get a routine going and get jacked up.
