That's the best way to do it mate, you have really got to see places for yourself to decide whether you like them or not. You get lots of people that tend to say wherever that are living is the nut location, but they could easily have different likes to you and a fair few haven't even travelled around that much and just settle in the first place you went to.

Koh Samui is worth a look around the 5th-12th of each month because all the full moon party goers pile in. Outside of that it is quite but has everything you need. I have to say there is way less english spoken in Samui verses Phuket but you can still get by with none (like me)

True what VV says I dont like Phuket at all and will prolly never go there again. I love Pattaya but friends of mine who live in hua hin hate it, a lot of bkkers hate pattaya and vicea versa. You never know til you try.

Anyone play golf in Thailand? I'm thinking of moving out there in January with a friend or two, and some decent golf options are pretty high on our priority list. I haven't done alot of research yet, but I did look up the Pattaya area and was very very surprised to see all of there options. I read there was like 20 courses (most v nice) within bout 45 mins.
