The rules are getting stricter almost every year. Even in this thread, you can go back and read how much easier the rules used to be for everything relating to foreigners. Remember the expensive credit card people could sign up for that gave them unlimited, trouble free visas forever?
In 25 years, Thailand will probably just kick you out completely or request a BJ every time you visit Immigration. lol
When I was there last time, I met these two brothers whose family left Eastern Europe in early 90s. Today, they are 18ish and mid-20s and they speak Thai to each other as it is their primary language. I wonder if they got permanent residency or not... At the time, I didn't think about this enough to ask them.
