Hey guys, so after having saved enough money, I planned moving to Thailand to play poker full time in Chiang Mai around end of january. I was wondering if any of you that already did it or are doing it at the moment had any tips. Also, I am canadian, but currently in New-Zealand and therefor can't apply for the multiple entry tourist visa (METV), what would you do in my situation? Finally, are there any facebook groups for poker players in Thailand? (Couldn't find any)

I like CM. Its a cheap, chill town with good food. Lots of cool people too. If i want a lil vacay I can get a flight to Bangkok or Phuket for less then 2000 baht round trip.

Guys does anyone stay longterm in Thailand on a marriage visa? I am wondering if the Thai government would ever ask me about my source of income (which is poker) if I dont have a proper job. I am 26 and German if that is relevant.
If anyone has any experience or knowledge about that I would appreciate that a lot if you could contact me via Pm.

Have you considered ED visa? You can in theory stay for a couple of years on an ED visa, learn a new language each year, or even learn muay thai

You need either 400k in a Thai bank, seasoned for 2 months, or a steady income of 40k a month, documented by a letter from your embassy. Doubt they will issue it based on poker earnings, and besides the income statements will most likely come to an end soon anyway.

However, when being married you can apply for one year multi-entry non-o. Each entry gives you 90 days, and can be extended for another 60 days. Then you will have to leave and re-enter the country. Some embassies/consulates issue it, without any financial requirements.

Yes, but exchange the money in Thailand and not back home and do NOT exchange directly in the airport arrival hall...

Just an FYI, I opened my party account in thailand with a thai address.
I'm in cambodia right now and they allow me to play.
I think there was a question of whether accounts opened in thailand would also be cut off and not just play from thailand.
