DDNK, don't sweat it. She probably thinks you're a great guy and wants to be your gf, but just doesn't want to be seen with you in public because you're probably horrifically ugly. The solution is a mask. I'd suggest a ninja turtle, and keep in mind Rafael was by far the most badass. gl

She knows that when she walks through the door half the staff is going to say, "Good to see you again Miss xxxxxxx."

lol, Rafael was probably the 5th best character, but good idea otherwise.

It is odd that she isn't shy about lightly messing around in a coffee shop in front of customers and the staff that feels the need to stand 3 feet away the entire time, yet being seen walking into a hotel room is terrible... It makes no gd sense.

Yeah, bananaface, I know, but I think she was more concerned with the staff than random people walking about. And the staff would know. I made sure to tell her I'd find a place far from her work and home, and that seemed to do it.

Anyway, issue over, my powers of persuasion were obviously just too much for her to resist.

Isn't it illegal for her to go to your hotel room in Vietnam, unless the room is in both of your names?

Around Koh Sarn Road there are lots of hotels for $30 US or even a lot less. They fit the 'just some room w/ AC' requirement and if you don't know BKK that is a good area to stay as KSR is fun, the first couple times you do it (expats usually hate it because of all the backpackers).

Other than that you can at lower Sukhumvit (soi 3/4) for $40-60 at some places and be walking distance to stuff to do and the BTS SkyTrain (which links you to everything). More hookers and less backpackers in this area.

Don't think I'd stay anywhere else (KSR/Suk) if I were a noob.

+1 for dream but seems out of his price range (like $100ish/night iirc)

Ambassador Hotel actually is prob the best low-priced hotel in this area. I think it's $50 or less and great location on Sukhumvit 11.

i spend one night at honey house on sukhumvit 22 and it was decent enough if you just want a basic a/c room with wifi for 800 baht (20$)

If anybody would like to rent a sick 1 BR on Sukhumvit, let me know.

Close to everything. Very nice, new place with gorgeous Western furnishings. Expensive desk and very comfortable chair + fast internet, electricity and water already set up and running from day 1. Great view of lower Sukhumvit. Sick pool and fitness center in the building.

50,000 THB per month, non-negotiable. Can pay deposit and rent via major online poker site (or bank transfer). Looking for a long term tenant (1 year+).

Dont wanna be a nit but thats about exactly 25 bucks nowadays

Also, "Cozy at ten" hotel at suk soi 10 is decent value for money. Good location etc.

important question and the reasoning behind it:

I have flown to Thailand many times, often without having a visa. When I last left the states I had a flight that went from Phoenix to LAX to Thailand with United Airlines.

When checking in to the flight with United Airlines, they told me I could not go to Thailand because I had no visa for Thailand. I told them I get 30 days on arrival and they said sorry you don't have a valid visa. They let me take my connecting flight anyways, which I figured would let me continue on no problem--which it did.

My sister is flying in to Thailand in two weeks, and her flight is with United Airlines. She is staying for about three weeks, and has no Visa. What shoudl she do?

ask for a supervisor if they give you any bull**** like that when you ahve a return flight

of course they dont give **** like that if you have a return ticket

and it is very standard for some airlines not to let you board if you dont have a return ticket or a visa

First thing they ask is return ticket, not visa. If she's staying 3 wks she should have an exit flight so I don't see a problem arising.

no

the 30-day visa exempt stamp that you are on here can only be extended for 7 days for 1900 baht.

if you want a tourist visa you will need to leave the country and go to a thai embassy/consulate somewhere (laos being a good near choice that many ppl use). you can get a double entry tourist visa from there which is good for almost 6 months (60 day stamp upon arrival + 30 day extension from immigration inside thailand - leave the country and come back before the visa expires and you get another 60+30 days)
