The flight is within Korea, so you dont need to report cash you carry . So just bring any currency and change it at the casino
Like Koj said - when you buy in you keep the receipt and you can buy back at the same rate. Also PM me if there are any q's

If you are serious about going or even thinking about it - Msg your name so you can get rake back. If you show up and aren't on an agent list you won't be eligble

any advice for some 23 yr old kid who wants to play poker in korea?
I'm from the U.S and I'd like to take a shot playing pro or semi pro live or online poker.
I'm also looking for people in korea to network with, trying to find a poker grind house or something. I'm Korean American and can understand some basic Korean.

I posted on the "Looking for poker house" forum.

Move to Korea. Get an apartment. Get internet. All very easy. Then play online and win. Then play at Walker Hill and win. If you lose or you don't like it then go home. As a Korean American you can get a descendants visa and speaking some basic Korean will makes things very easy for you. There's really not more to it. Just do it and then if you don't like it go home.

Do you have BA? Yes:
As someone who is a semi pro, I have some ideas. Why not do some teaching and grinding? If you grad in US then you can teach here and make a good living. Rent is covered, 1/2 health care if covered and most of the time you make 2.5 times what you need to live. Even with Student loans. Get your TEFL online for 100 bucks and it will up your pay 100 bucks a month. Profit.
Question: Hagwon or public? Depends on what you want to do. Hagwons have shorter hours but they are all about keeping students. Mostly nights or days with kinders.
Public is all day time with longer hours but higher pay at the top.
Hagwons can shut down leaving you high and dry. No pay, no money and boned.
Both have good/bad. Next pick a place to go.
Things to do before taking a job: Talk to the last teacher when they aren't at school. Is the job okay, pay on time, funny stuff? How many teachers have completed their contracts?
Find a job you'll like. Don't take less than 2 million for 8 hours a day/5 days a week. No Sat/Sun unless ovetime.
PM for more or we can chat. Cheers.

went to WH two nights ago, me and my friend were donking it up super hard at 1/2 and were really drunk. people were happy when we left as they were such massive ****ing nits. i didn't even get the chance to 3bet anyone because there was no raising

drinks were SUPER strong at least. also someone limp-shoved 435 against me with A9o lolz. i think we were the only two people who won money in the time we were sitting. my friend had never played in a casino before and basically called everyone a fish for playing in a game with such high rake. it's semi-beatable if you drink a lot i guess.

played 2/5 at coex last night. it is literally the worst-run poker room i have ever played at in my entire life. i pointed out to them a bunch of times they had open seats and then they'd call a player (on the phone). they then had a 10 minute lock-up and each player would use the full 10 minutes to play bacarrat or whatever so even though i was 3rd on list i waited like 40 minutes. one time the guy didn't answer, and they still reserved his seat for 10 minutes before calling next person.

there were also enough people on list to open up second table, and they didn't do so forever. after opening the second table and although there were 4 dealers (that i saw) it still took like 15 minutes for someone to get in the box. it was so dumb. action was good at least and a few people were pretty deep. w/e gonna mostly be playing online during my stay here it looks like.

oh the floor manager(?) at coex (actually have no idea who she was as the higher-ups weren't wearing uniforms or anything) told me it would take 2-3 days to get my poker card made lol. kinda insane. i have lost at least 30 borgata player cards so idk how i will be able to hold onto this one.

yeah the waiting list and how they treat it at coex was already terrible 2 years ago when i was visiting. How is 1-2 at WH? is it really nitty now? Does Mr John Mur*** still play? guess it can't hurt to visit for the freeroll anyway

WH 1/2 was full of mega nits. it sucked. i mean, i guess you have to be a nit cause of the rake....still, i'd have expected people to open up a bit with two super drunk people at table that are in every pot...

i assume john still plays there if hes living in korea as he's a fishy degen.

Above post is from 2/19/2013- Just searched this thread to see if anything else is on here about it.

A WH pit boss was telling me the other day that he plays Texas Holdem at Gangwonland, but that the game only allows for one raise only.

Anyone know exactly how this works? 1 raise preflop and for each street, or for one raise period? Seems weird to have one preflop raise and then basically it would be a showdown for all who called?

If they offered a regular NLHE game, no doubt there would be a lot of local professional poker players playing there instead of just in underground games.

I wonder how much local Koreans who would be "professional gamblers" would have to pay in tax here? (if there is such a thing or if they are even allowed to put on their tax forms that are a professional gambler)

If you are asking about the triple up tourney. everyone who cashes gets 450,000 kw each. Back on Jan 18th, they had 30 participants, 10 players cashed for 450,000 kw each.

Its nice to not even have to play a final table.

Well, to be fair, you guys did announce that you were online pros. Not like you were two drunk rando's

The A9o guy said that he didn't have respect for your game in the beginning but he did learn to respect it by the end of your short session.

And yes Coex is the worst run room easily 20% slower than WH.

haha i mean i was just playing insane and trying to gamble. which seat were you in? i had fun and it was good playing with you all.

idk, shoving over 200bb against a drunk dude with a total bluff is pretty terrible. also seat 9's overcall with 44 was the worst thing i have seen in ages. especially when i tanked for ages and said "wow he has to have aces" outloud like 6x with 4 people still to act.

fwiw i would never say i don't respect someone's game. i may think they are a fish or a nit or a aggrodonk but it's a casino people can do whatever they want. i will go after them in other ways but when you start worrying about "respect" at table you have ego issues and i think that led some people to make crazy plays. i am pretty much a live pro now anyway heh and i'm in grad school so i'm semi-retired i guess.

also my friend and i have a bet about the board in one of the hands we played against eachother i'll shoot you a PM.

Well, if there are less than 30 entries then they will have to play a final table, then it won't be stupid?
