The mods have your back djz. They've deleted my posts so they're obviously offended anytime anyone criticizes MURICA.

Troll away son, have at it.

Sorry you're so butthurt by the evidence of US imperialism. I'd give you a cookie if I could.

also lol i am totally fine with people criticizing the US i am pretty far out there on the left and i like reading noam chomsky (don't hate i don't want to have any more political discussion in this thread). my rage isn't "latent" (it's totally open) nor it is about people criticizing the US. what i am not cool with people spewing totally ******ed BS and i'm happy to skewer them for that.

I moved a number of recent posts to a new thread in Politics unchained, as there were a number of complaints and it seemed to be better suited to that forum.

Like the Russians and Ukrainians said last week during a poker tourney- lets have poker and not war.

----------

phone stuff -- went to a sk telecom store, took me an hour, you cannot get a prepaid sim with data unless you have a korean person sign you up, they need a korean id # thing. You can get a prepaid phone #, just no data.

can you get a decent rental phone that's prepaid? i have a korean burner phone that i can load with minutes in itaewon, but it's pretty crappy (literally just texts and makes phone calls; maybe has a ****ty camera dont remember)...so if i'm stuck with that i'll end up carrying my dataless iphone around with me anyway for kakau/mp3s/not dying of boredom. rather just have one phone obv.

i saw something earlier in the thread about a place near gangnam station that does swank phone rentals for 3 or 6 months but i'm only gonna be in korea for 2 =/

will they swap your won back for dollars at the same rate you bought the dollars though? walker does that.

the airport had only the iphone 4 for rent, was hoping to try a high end samsung phone

http://www.smartel.co.kr/

guy just told me about this, so I'm gonna try them out. Says they rent out to foreigners - phone # + data

eternalatmosphere - you 100% sure about that? I'd be tempted to go but it's just soooo far and if they ended up not selling a sim because of some stupid logistical reason, that would put me on ape**** tilt

you can get a prepaid sim with data through olleh. you need to bring in your passport and cash (they wont accept debit/credit for some reason)

i believe it was like 30k won a month depending on how much data youll need. this includes having a phone number/calls
