Depends, 6000 rmb can give u a good life in Bj for 1 month, there r lots of short term accomdation for foreigners in Bj, some of them are rly cheap.
Food, if u can find the rite place, u can eat very well and also very cheap.

But, if u r rich, u can spend 10K usd easily there in 1 month.

a couple of 21 year old lads into chilling in sun, beaches, seeing sights, meeting likeminded ppl, getting girls.

do you think HK is suitable? Is there lots really worth seeing? Or is it just busy, polluted and overly congested?

Just couldnt understand why some ppl think Its "dangerous" to visit China...
Most of ppl in China r friendly to u even some of them dont speak much English..(I guess the reason of these is b/c of the report made by western media lead most us to the misunderstanding of China lol) Liaoning is a industry city btw

Honk Kong is one of the coolest cities in the world. That list is missing the skyline from Kowloon, I always love to see the architecture there. Great shopping, very interesting nightlife and a very vibrant city with tons of history.

Thank you. How many days to scrape the surface of the best touristy spots, like the ones listed there?

I would also add the Peak Tram and the night markets in Mongkok to your list. You can probably hit most of the touristy spots in Hong Kong in like 3 days. But it really is an amazing city and has awesome food and restaurants all over the place.

Also Macau is just a 1 hour ferry ride away. It's worth a visit to check out the casinos and poker rooms there.

I'm going to be studying abroad at Tsinghua for a semester, had a few Qs:

-Did you open a CCB or HSBC bank account? If not, what did you do for banking?
-I'm bringing an unlocked iPhone, where would they sell SIM cards for my phone?
-How safe is it to eat the street food in general?

I have a HSBC account but if u gonna stay there for 1 semester, I recon u should find a local bank to open up a account, I think the school will also help u with this

imo Hong Kong is like any other big city and is expensive.

It may be fun for a few days, but nothing else to do besides that. I prefer major cities in mainland China over HK.

China is super safe, even walking down random allies at anytime of night I feel safe. Chinese people aren't too confrontational, and after 3 years of living here Ive yet to have any issues involving violence, theft, etc.

If you're American and have a Bank of America account, you can withdraw cash at China Construction Bank ATMs without any fees or conversion charges (Bank of America owns a stake in China Construction Bank and it is part of their Global Network).

Eat the street food, it kicks ass. I travelled around China for a while, ate tons of street food and never got sick once. Definitely drink bottled water and consider bringing hand sanitizer (they don't sell hand sanitizer in China), but if you stick to places where other people are eating and you'll probably be fine. You can get awesome tasting meat buns for like $0.20.

Do bring your own napkins, lots of restaurants don't offer them. And make it a priority to use the bathroom at your hotel/apartment before you go out. The public bathrooms in China certainly leave something to be desired.
