Ok yeah, I mean I like Manila too. I can see how some wouldn't though. It can often be pretty rough around the edges.

But if you like the business probably should return there, Cebu might be a bit too slow for your taste.

Airasia has a sale on atm (think it ends tomorrow), you can probably find a flight to KL or HK for under 2k pesos

think im going to go with eastwood tbh. Just having an oven i think i would save a lot of money from not eating out everyday 2x/3x.

I imagine theres just as many resto-bars in QC than there is in makati? I imagine it wont be too much different right? + living somewhere different is always nice. Whats rougher, malate or QC? Only worry is internet but guess it would be fine for price im paying

think i would have to take a vacation to cebu before i commit to staying there to check it out. so ill do that at some point

thx ninedash

EDIT: On ther other hand, a 50/100 plo might be so fishy, that it would just the max rake all the time, so the effective percentage would be much lower.

Its been 6 weeks since I was there. They were able to get a 100/200 going most of the nights, but it depends a lot on who is there, as its only a rather select group who plays plo, it seems.
The rake was 5%, max 500. But I know they were talking about increasing it to 10%, max 500, anybody knows?

Also, anybody got update on Solaire action? Is it completely dead now?
Yeah I meant purely from a recreational perspective... I enjoy PLO but 100/200 (or 200/500 as it can jump to) playing deep is too much to mess about in but I'd happily sit down with 10k at 50/100. Good point tho re 10% rake.

I'm also curious about Solaire, haven't been there in a while.

Are there any other condo buildings then "sea residences and SoleMare ParkSuites" within walking distance to City of Dreams, and around $500 for month to month deal? How much is standard price for electricity in Manila?

Depends if the electricity prices they end up charging you are on the level or not.

Solaire (and I'm guessing now CoD) did not have regular running plo game when I was there. Everyone was telling me that there were regular games running around town though. The two times I was at resorts world plo was running (sample size) and regs were listing off several other places with regularly running games.

Any tips on getting a good deal at Grammercy or other places on a month to month basis?

If you don't want to post the info a pm is appreciated.

Thanks!

Not to mention a Filipino could get you a better price on it too.

I mean one that is your friend/gf or some such, someone you have a good relationship with and trust.

It was alright. I would recommend it over staying at a hotel if you want to play poker at solaire it's an ideal location.

The gym was ok. And my place was furnished and had cooking supplies. Most everything I needed was within a short walk to the mall of asia.

My internet wasn't very reliable though.

Note: Just stayed about month, paying 50.00 per night

Been reading the thread and seems most discussions have been out PLO.
I play only NLH

Heading out to Manila in a few days and want to check out the Poker rooms. From what my friend told me, there are 2 places to play?
Poker King Club and PSlive?

What are the blinds in the No Limit games and which casino should I go and play at?

Where is the recommended place to change money into Pesos?

My hotel is quite far from City of Dreams, on google maps, it stated that it would take 35min. Taxi's are cheap I assume even though it possibly could be a 35-60min cab ride?

First time traveling to the Philipines, anything I need to worry about? Is it safe? Got any advice for a first time visitor there?

Most likely, in the daytime I'll go do some sight seeing and grind poker at night.

I like Manila, but Manila is not really a city for day time sight seeing.

I mean that's assuming you mean places like parks, lakes, monuments, mountains etc. etc. natural sights and older man made monuments and such. If those are the sorts of things you mean Manila isn't such a great city for that. Although I suppose there are places you could take a day trip too that aren't too far away.

As far as poker goes there are a few more rooms than the ones you mentioned. If you look back further in the thread you'll find plenty of discussion on NL games in Manila.

What stakes do you normally play?

would you guys ever pay for somewhere before seeing it in person? i get in at 12 at night...and i cba to pay for all the hotel costs. Pretty silly to pay for something without seeing it in person or? Like do you ever hear about scams this way?

i would definitely check into a hotel for a night and check it out before committing for a month

Didn't the scam you out of your deposit return last time?

Seems you've had experience with this already.
