I'm not an authority on that, but what I've seen is 1/2 opens to 7-12 bucks, and 2/5 opens from 15-22 bucks max. The regular game I've played in Canada, the 5/5 will open to 25/40, but it's a 300bb buy in structure.

4x-8x open is standard live around the world. It's actually surprising to see anything less than that anywhere.

I'll have to take your word on that, it's been a while since I've played in North America.

(divide numbers by ~40 for USD)

In Manila, 10/20, will regularly open to 100-150, rare to see less than this, with the scared guys opening to 250 with JJ/TT.

25/50 will open usually to 175 to 300, with the same JJ/TT guys opening to 350-500.

50/100 will open about 400-500, with rarer opens to 700 or more. It's not uncommon to see a table opening to 300 though, you just need a few rational people on the table to set the standard.

The higher you go, the smaller multiple the opens will be .. the 1000/2000 games, it will open for 4-6000.

Canada's 1/2 was standard 7 bucks though, higher raises to 12 happened, but more than that was definitely unusual at the time.

2/5, I typically saw 15-22 bucks, with the top end at 30 bucks

5/5, standard open was 35, but we were playing 300bb versus 100bb for the other stakes.

Macau was similar to Manila, but much nittier post flop. In Manila, the pot swells pretty fast.

I would never pay $25 to see a flop no matter how pretty it looked!

Papa Johns buy one take one delivery on Tuesdays - premium pizzas included. Both a blessing and a curse.

Just realized I can get flight to manila for 600 bux so might just check it out. if I dont like it i can get to anywhere else for another 200-300 which is the same as it would cost anyway. So I'm curious...

Housing costs vs thailand?
Do apartments generally have kitchens? assuming 600$ range?
Can you rent scooters as easily/cheap as in thailand?
Restaurants / nightlife more pricey?

I think a little bit lower but not by a huge amount

Yes, $600/month will get you a pretty good studio with a kitchen outside of Makati/Fort, and possibly one inside Makati/Fort
Can you rent scooters as easily/cheap as in thailand?
Dunno, foreigners in Manila don't do it and it doesn't seem like a particularly safe thing to do. Traffic is more chaotic than in Thailand (where it is pretty chaotic already by developed country standards).
Restaurants / nightlife more pricey?
Probably cheaper, but not 100% sure.
Regarding your questions.

are you comparing manila to bangkok? what cities are you looking to live in

manila is expensive (most in PI or thailand) to rent but if you are fine with $600 a month you will have no problem finding a place with a kitchen (stove no oven)

thats really the main difference between living in manila or any other city in PI/thailand/cambo, just more expensive for a decent apartment there

i think driving a scooter in manila or BK is crazy!

if you fly from philippines to thailand go from clark airport to BK not from manila airport, unless u think the hour+ bus ride from manila to clark isnt worth saving $100+

I dont think id stay in manila. Smaller beach town would be better, not sure what that would be...cebu still a pretty big spot? doubt I'd go to angeles. are there any other options?
