That sounds reasonable. Can be outside that range on both side obv, but for most people should be in that range or close, probably towards higher side.

Anyone have any specific restaurant or must do things for Boracay?

I am in Manila, been here for a bit, and my brother is visiting in April, we are planning on doing a few days in Boracay. Our activity would probaly revolve around beach, drink, maybe a water sport or two.

This Dave's Staw Hat Inn place looks very reasonable:
458 reviews: 342 excellent 95 very good

46 sqm 1BR unit (2people)- total electric bill averaged about P6500/month.
My AC was on whenever I was in the unit.
on probably 20 hours/day. sometimes the bedroom AC and living room AC was on at the same time
used an electric stove and washer and dryer

58 sqm 2BR unit(3 people)- average about P3200/month.

I rarely use the AC now, maybe 5 hours/week. My fan is on pretty much all day
i use a gas stove.
My maid uses the washing machine to do laundry, but she hangs the clothes to dry

I HAVE A QUESTION N A PROBLEM,Hope someone provide a practical solution???...

I have been in Philippines for a month now, and I have a frozen Us Pokerstars account due to black friday. I want to change my location as soon as possible to Philippines so I can play and also cash out some money. But they ask me to provide a utility bill and land phone number. Land phone I can provide, but I am staying in a hostel/hotel all the time so providing utility bill on my name is not possible under this situation.

Can anyone help me how to do that fast?

Also open for selling my real pokerstars balance for 100 usd less if there is any takers. My balance is 2615$,so you would be making easy 100$ and I would be getting my rest of the money...

Looking forward for some help, good advice and reasonable suggestions...
thanks in advance) cheers...

Have electricity prices continued to rise steeply over the last couple years? When I lived in Cebu, I paid the monthly electric bill for the entire family I was staying with, and it never reached 2000p. Before I was staying with the family, their bill was around 700p.

Electric prices over the three+ years I was there steadily increased. I rarely used AC, maximum of 20 minutes or so most nights. I did keep the AC fan on often.

hmmm so if you use both AC's for 20 hours a day and the price was 6500 im guessing with just 1 AC going and not all the time you can easily be in my $75-$125 range

roughly how much is the hook up needed to get the other monitor hooked up? should i buy that hook up in the US or in PI?

thanks

how much longer do you plan to stay in the Philippines for? if u look on page 224 you can see im in a similar situation as i cant provide a utility bill living in a pension house. I might be able to procure something if i made a special request to the lazy bastards that pass for the management here but decided to forgo trying to play as there's no peace of mind here. Look into pension houses that let u rent by the month or week and before paying make sure u can get something that passes for a utility bill. it would also be possible to get a appt for short term rental and get a utility bill that way

I don't think you can make that assumption. I have been in 4 different condos here in Makati. The most I have spent was 12k and the least was in the 5k range. This is with one single Aircon on only when I am at home and I work 9-10hours outside of the house. It really depends on the building and the air con units. In my last place I was paying an average of 8-9k a month and it was probably a 20yr old air con. At my new place I have 2 air cons ceiling fan and stand up fan and electric stove. I have been hard pressed to go over 7k, usually in the 5k range.

Some buildings you pay Meralco directly some buildings you pay the admin people. I would say you can safely budget $200 or less for electric/water.

Hooking up a monitor is so simple. Just take the standard cable from the monitor and put into the port on your laptop. If you have a mac then you might need a VGA adapter.

Visit Ariel's Point on your 2nd last day if you are into Cliff Jumping. I say 2nd last day as you could get sore from Jumping range of heights 6m -15m.
Check out vids on youtube.

There are lot's of fine places to dine on Boracay, go to D'mall in station 2.
I always like to dine at Red Coconut and Rumbas Bar & Restaurant are my favourites.

Watersport, try the fly fish, that is fun trust me I've been to Boracay 3 times and tried everything.

Lots of places to drink and party in Boracay. If you happen to go during Full Moon go to other side of island for the Full Moon Party in The Jungle Bar. Some wicked tunes and great mix of foreigners and locals.
Cocomangas has alot of prostitutes which shift to Paraw and Summerplace.
Epic is a nice venue but overpriced drinks, expect to pay double compared to the rest of the island.

Lastly book early if going in April as that is Holy Week and the busiest/expensive time of year to go to Boracay as it's known as super peak season. Not sure of your budget but it's always nice to have a beach front resort in station 2 so you are close to all the action

Have fun.

I can recommend Red Coconut, Boracay Regency & Mango Ray Resort. Dave Staw Hat Inn would be another good choice because of their service, cleanliness, price and ambience.

Another good site to check is www.myboracayguide.com and also be a fan on their facebook page. Valuable information there on accommodation and things to do.

thanks slippen and your right you never assume, i switched apts a few months ago do nothing different than before and my electric bill is 2/3 what it was in my old place, only reason i can think of is because maybe this refrigerator uses less because everything else is exactly the same

and thanks about the laptop, i was thinking i might need to buy a tower while i was over there but i might as well get a laptop here before i head over if you can dual monitor with them

I had a friend renting an apartment. After three or four expensive electrical bills, he had the electric company come out to check on the wiring. They found that the meter was attached to an adjacent business as well and the owner was making him pay both his bill and theirs.

About a laptop: I am planning to get one as well before I head over there, but if it breaks you will have an extremely difficult time getting it fixed. There are lots of computer techs that work on desktops, but few to none that work on laptops.

1- Get your hands on a utility bill of some sort from a random address in the Phils.
2- scan, put on usb drive
3- go to fiverr.com and find someone who can use photoshop
4- Tell the guy what you need, pay $5

Don't you need proof of a bank account? They are asking me for this and all the banks I've gone to require an ACR card to open a savings account... even though all I've read about the Phillipines include how easy it is to open a savings account here. In Cebu City fwiw, thanks.
