WSOP 00 Summer Solstice WSOP 00 Summer Solstice

06-21-2016 , 02:25 AM
Blinds 400/200
Ante 50

Hero - $11k (27 BB, M = 10)

Folds to Hero in Hijack. Hero raises to $1k with 8 8

Folds to BB. BB calls. BB has around $40k.

Flop is 5 4 T. BB shoves. Hero calls. BB shows 7 6. Hero is 3 to 1 favorite.

Turn and River provide running hearts to complete flush for BB.

Is shoving PF better here? How about the PF raise sizing? Shoving would probably elicit a fold from BB, but that seems like the less optimal play. Thoughts?

Don't show results so fast next time

U played it fine. Don't shove 27 BBs here. You're almost always against some sort of combo draw when he shoves. Just run better

I concur. You played it fine.

Your stack is too big to shove preflop. Your raise size preflop is fine. You raise 1,000 to win 1,000 if everyone folds. You could raise min-raise, but thats pretty minor.

Did BB seriously open shove the flop?

wow, do people really open shove with an oesd in these tourneys?

you played it fine. stack is too big to shove pre. open bet is standard, results unlucky, gg

The guy was a bit of a LAGtard. He had previously called 15-20 bb 4-bet shoves with A3 and pocket 33s but he was running so good he built a big stack quickly.

i know it sucks being sucked out of a big tourney. but tbh, that's what you sign up for when you enter.

I see this kinda play often online in the lower stakes, but live, in a 1500 $ event, it is just lol. anyway villain seems to have to much ca$h.
If he had at least 6d7d, this would be somewhat more understandable, as he would at least have 1 out to the stones, but like played it is just lunacy...

on the bubble you may find a fold, but still against villain's tendencies probably not. At the end of the day you need to survive, but in order to do so you need to get your chips in when you are waaaaaay ahead.

@Ralph and ase:

Why do you hate the call? It's a huge overbet (26 effective into 2). Villain is spewy and called out of the BB getting 3+:1 pot odds, so his range is really wide. OP crushes most of it and is only really worried about T9, TT, TJ, QT, KT, 54, 44 and 55. I'm guessing that any overpairs to 88 are reraising pre, so OP is beating a bunch of other things -- one-pair/draw combos, two overs, diamond draws, and has straight blockers.

I think the call is fine.

we're getting really crappy odds and have poor equity vs. the average range of a live random there, plus our hand blocks weak gutshots he might do this with.

and even if it could be close in cEV its just not really necessary when we can play future hands with him.
