i like raising the flop because it gives us an extra way to win this pot.
If he calls then its ok cos we get to see river for free and should mean his hand is strong enough to get alot of money in if we are lucky enough to catch a spade.
Don't forget he's a donk so chance of getting shoved on when he's donked flop is v.unlikely. Donk would rather c/r flop with a hand thats good enough to 3bet here IMO

Well Vanessa, that's exactly what I thought. I raised to 10k. He deliberated and fumbled a bit again and called. The river bricked and he led out for 6k into the 30k pot. My intent was to shove, but I froze on a "live tell feel" kind of thing that he was never folding and I was about to punt a big portion of my stack so I folded. It's embarrassingly bad, particularly since he then showed the 9c4c. Shoving the river is so mandatory it's beyond absurd.

So a few hands later this hand comes up. Middle-aged WSOP donkish player raises to 4000 at 400/800/100 leaving 28k behind. Folds to us on the CO with AQ. Thoughts?

yes i didn't say this in my post but you CANNOT raise this turn WITHOUT shoving the river. waaaaaay too many pair plus draw combos on the turn.

Anyone have thoughts on the AQ hand?

pretty ez fold, his range there is generally 99-JJ or AQ/AK'ish hands, and you're committing way too much for the implied fold equity against the set range you're usually flipping against (and ~10% of the time you're boned)

just try and wake up with QQ+ in that spot next time and flat so their elemental preflop flaws end up ruining them

my thought is fold

Well, there's probably not much to talk about. I agree it's an easy fold. Unfortunately, I was still a bit amazed by the hand in the OP and called. Flop was A53r and villain instashoves his 28k stack into the 10k or so pot.
