What is the value of chipping up? What is the value of chipping up?

Sorry if this thread is kinda long but here goes.

This is in response thread found here (hopefully the link works)http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...d.php?t=222315.
Im just going to post the the hand here real fast.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (9 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

saw flop|saw showdown

UTG+1 (t8950)
MP1 (t685)
MP2 (t9377)
MP3 (t2344)
CO (t3665)
Button (t3115)
SB (t4230)
BB (t7700)
Hero (t7120)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 6, 6.
Hero calls t150, 1 fold, MP1 raises to t685, 1 fold, MP3 raises to t2344, 4 folds, Hero ???

Ok so given this action i opened pokerstove, used the ranges (22+, A2s+, K9s+, QTs+, A2o+, KTo+) for the short stack, and (TT+, AJs+, AQo+) for the bigger all in. I did the math (which can be found on the OP linked above), and calculated we had 2474 equity on our call of 2344.

Given we are getting even money on our call should we make it? Under what cicumstaces shuold we call? Under what circumstaces shuold we fold? What is the value of taking a risk like this? Does the positive that we will have a huge stack at this point in the tourney if we win outwiegh the risk of losing 1/3 of our stack? How does all this change depending on stage of the tournament?

Sorry if this is a lot but I'd love to hear some thoughts about this topic.

Thanks in advance,
Alphabett

what's the buy-in to this tourney?
my hunch tells me it belongs in ssmtt...

1. the range you gave mp3 is pretty tight imo
2. even if you widen it to 77+ AJo+ ATs it's prob still a fold...
3. his 16bb over-push is too much to call

I'm more asking about this hand in a macro sense.

If Hero feels like he is one of the better players remaining in the tournament (you basically just have to be honest with yourself) Folding hands with where you have a slight advantage and waiting for better bets later on makes a whole lot of sense. If you feel you are not one of the better players remaining embrace the gambles where you may have slight edge

when mp3 went all in, did you feel like you were going to flop a set or not? i'd flip a coin usually if i was unsure whether or not i'd trip up, heads i'd fold - tails i'd muck.
